Has anyone seen this? How would brass hold up finish-wise compared to stainless steel I wonder? I love brass, but if I buy another z I'd like to get a no-headache finish (I have 2 gunmetals now)

SMOKTech ZMAX Ecig MOD Revision 2 Red Brass

That is just a chrome or black chrome version sanded down. If you sand it with fine grit sandpaper you will find that color brass under the finish. You can just sand down a ZMax you already have to get that finish. Brass oxidizes easily so you would probably want to put a protective clear coating over it to protect the color of the finish. Or after it tarnishes for a while shine it back up with Brasso.

The Zmax V1 is my first mod. I made a thread titled dissapointed awhile back, i was having serious dry hits burnt tasting juice at realy low volts. this is due to Vivi Nova and some new clearos failing to wick my juices fast enough for the zmax.

now i have a cartomiser tank setup with bog 510 standard resistance the results are encouraging, non burnt tasting high vapor warm vaping now.

BUT the 510 threads on this thing are terrible imo, seriously loose on all but skirted clearos. i can pull tanks off it with ease, if they haven`t already. one day in the future i will get a hybrid setup with a genesis atomizer.

Glad the carto tank is working out in the dry hit department. The 510 threads are messed up on the ZMax? Can ya send it back under warranty?

They are all like that. The threads are slightly too large an ID and most cartos, tanks, etc. fit loosely. They can easily be pulled out. Nothing to send back as the replacement would be exactly the same. Just have to be careful with them.

I have a version 1 and a version 2 and don't have any issues with the threads. So mine aren't like that. I haven't heard people saying this is an issue - its not a common one. Not from all the reports I've read anyway.

The version 1 or any 510 socket made of brass will suffer wear and tear especially if you are screwing stainless steel 510's into them, version 2 is stainless so it will last real well.

On a side note, I finally got my wife to start vaping again, I gave her my pristine Vmax v1 "the Beast" and a new ViVi nova tank with a couple new aw's. Two hours later "oh it fell out of my pocket somewhere". I only blame myself, I should have known better.

Hey guys! Still loving my z-max 2. I have a question. I have been using the Panasonic (flat top) hybrid battery 18650. However, these batts are being discontinued.

Can anyone recommend a batt with a similar performance?

the Efest 2250mah 18650 is in fact that battery relabeled, Panasonic must have come up with something better then

My v2 doesn't have any issues with the threads either.
mine is version 1, the threads are almost non existent when screwing a nova or carto tank slack is an understatement. i got it from the states as i couldnt find any here in the UK.
iam not going to send it back but will reconsider smok products in the future
like i said its perfect with 510 ego clearos with skirts it cant be the nova or tank as they fit on my eGo`s very securely.

The majority, if not all, of my problems with loose threads on my ZMax v1 is with Vivi Nova tanks. Maybe the issue is not the female threading on the ZMax but the male threading on the Vivi Nova being made out of spec and smaller than it should be. That would result in the same problrm, just a different cause.

A good solution might be to use a 510 to 510 adapter, this is what I do, then if the threads in the adapter become too sloppy you can replace it, they can be found for under $2.
I don't bother doing this if the mod has stainless threads but it still wouldn't hurt.

It is a little of both, one is under spec and the other(max) is over

I've had my Zmax several months now and it has worked flawlessly with a Vision Vivi Nova. I didn't think I would like the menu system but it works great after it is setup. I don't change the settings very often and just leave it at 7.5 W and set it to read the charge voltage of the battery so I can tell when my battery is getting low. It just takes a couple of clicks to reset it to display the Voltage after I change batteries. I'm very happy with mine and glad I bought it.:)
