Well, my V2 Zmax just died today. It's still under warranty from mad vapes so I'm quite thankful for that. I do love this pv, in the weeks that I've owned it I haven't had one single issue with it. I am now deciding if I want store credit or just have it replaced. If I knew they were going to carry the mini I would rather have that. I think...

What happened to it? Did anything display on the screen? Could you smell anything burning inside? Or did it just fail to turn on and stays off?

I've got one coming too, as well as a couple other things ;) I don't consider it as jumping ship........just adding to my arsenal :D still love my zmax!!
Me too, I added a Smok Telscope a couple of weeks ago also, the larger diameter of the Sigelei was of interest to me

Don't know if anyone else has had this happen, but recently my Zmax has started having issues with overpowered firing when in power (RMS) mode. Everything works fine for awhile (anywhere from a few hits to half a tank or so), but eventually I end up getting a very hot hit that, more often than not, blows the coil in my carto. When it doesn't blow the cartos, it will usually fire fine the next time but soon gives another hot hit. It's like it spontanously decides to go into mean mode on a whim.
Has happened with 2.0ohm Boges, 2.6ohm Kangers, 3.0phms Smoketechs (all at 7 or 7.5 watts) and 2.4ohm Pheonix bottom coils @ 6 watts. The last Pheonix got so hot before it blew that it melted a hole in the tube and I only fired it for a couple seconds as I saw the bright orange glow of the coil and let off before I even started puffing on it.

In every case it happened I was using it with 2 18350s. I've since switched to an 18650 and am using it in VV mode to preserve my carto supply and haven't had any issues in over a week, but having variable wattage was the whole point in choosing to buy it so that's not an ideal solution. Anyone else have this happen and more importantly, anyone have an idea how to keep it from happening?
I'm going to do more playing around to troubleshoot more when I get a new batch of cartos but thought I'd pick brains first before sacrificing more cartos. :p

Why can't you use one 18650 and variable wattage? You should be fine at 7-7.5 watts.

Well... Guess who went and posted in the Vmax thread instead of the Zmax thread. Anyways, Smoktech are bringing out a telescoping Zmax apparently. Some-one posted some pics in the Vmax thread - not sure if they will look like the pics but here's the post for those interested:

Sorry if this is double info - some people subscribe to one thread and some to both.
I like the look of this thing in the pics.

I explained why I can't use variable wattage. It blows coils. And it should work with either battery setup. The 18350 setup gives a bit more vape time which, as the Zmax is my "away from home" PV, is important and worked great for over 2 months.
Plus, I've since found the 18650 has the same problem in VW. It vapes fine for awhile, then seems to decide for some reason to crank the voltage up for no apparent reason.
At least it doesn't seem to crank it as much as I haven't blown any coils with it, I just get a really nasty hot hit. But it'll be stayed locked into VV mode from now on.

I'll probably grab one of the cheap clones to replace it eventually.
That'll teach me not to break my rule of never spending more than $50 on a PV unless it carries a Warranty a lot longer than 30 days. :p

That's what I was asking - not why don't you use variable wattage, but why not 1x 18650, since originally you were saying it always happened with 2x 18350s. But I see from your response above 1x 18650 in vw isn't working so well either. I agree on the warranty part - mine is 6 months.
