All along the stacked 18350's in the VMax is what was giving the beastly power output that I have grown to absolutely love and makes any other device not satisfy me at all. Haven't even used the ZMax that much because of the low power output in 18650 mode. Can't wait till the 18350 extension cap comes...it's gonna be a whole new PV.
It is my opinion that my Zmax (with stacked batteries)has even more power than my version 1 Vmax so it will be quite beastly.

Just not my week I guess; just received my Zmax a few minutes ago; fired it up and it won't shut off; I can remove the battery but when I install it, the thing just goes crazy; so hot I can't touch it. I've put a ticket into MadVapes but it's pretty obvious that this thing is not ready for prime time---at least mine!

I hope that you did not over tighten the atty/carto you're using on it. That would have pushed the centre-post in and could be causing a short. If you did, just try prying up the centre-post on the Zmax up a bit, and re-screw your atty/carto on it, this time though just tighten it a quarter turn past when it actually makes contact and gives you some resistance. Don't worry about how it looks, as long as it vapes. It's the most common error with users overtightening their atty/carto's.

I got tired of waiting on the 18350 extension cap to come so I pulled out some flat top 18350's and put them in the zmax and the 18650 standard cap fits on the ZMax just fine and vapes like a champ...no extension cap needed.

Edit: don't try this with nipple tops and I wouldn't even recommend doing it with flat tops. The only reason why I did it was my cap went on very easily like it goes on with the 18650 bat...this ZMax is a prototype so it might be different than the production models.

When the solder joint at the positive connection cracks make sure you tell your vendor you did this.

That's what I was thinking but if they are truly flat top then might be able to get away with it, but you are probably right and the extra 50mm in length is going to put a strain on that connector.

Right-o Ol' boy (been watching too much Brit VVTV),
I went thru a bunch (~10 pairs) of 18350s and I can find no combo that isn't a least a wee bit longer than a Pan CGR18650CH or a AW IMR 2000.
