Does V2 also have the issue of screencover not staying put?
Mine popped off and it seems to be pressfitted into tube.

There's a little bit of epoxy that holds the screen on to the board - sometimes.
Take the batteries out and put it back in, it should stay put.

Well I guess I'll have to blame it on old age or ?, I never gave any thought to to batteries being magnetic, even better than that , I was trying to vape it without batteries this morning. None of the stainless is magnetic, I stand corrected. On the long spring in the short cap I snipped off one coil, held the cut end of spring one coil down from the cut with nettle nosed pliers and placed the fresh cut end into flame of torch and when red pushed the end down to make it seat flat. Both ends now look the same and now it is the came length as my other short springs. I will probably never use the short cap anyway though as I use the extended cap with both battery setups.

A little more on the long spring in the short cap:
If you have the long spring in the short cap and take your finger and completely collapse the spring you will see that it is considerably above the bottom of cap.

I just got my SS Zmax with the 8th menu option... Been struggling my way through the menu and think I understand most things but have a couple questions:

At one point I had it set to display 3 dashes "---" when the fire button was pushed... Can't seem to get back there again???

What exactly is the 8th menu setting?? I can't seem to find any documentation and the instructions that came with it only show 7 options.

leann, it looks like it says ans, that is what you want it set to :)

Yeah, a lot of people get thrown by that! The letters "R" and "M" can't really be made convincingly with a 7-segment LED, so the "RMS" setting comes out looking like "ANS" ... same thing with the other setting, which is supposed to read "MEA", for MEAn or Vaverage, which is the old "hot" method of voltage readings used by the original V/Zmaxes. For me, the RMS is preferred, but many folks who are familiar and comfortable with the old hotter readings may like the MEA option ... which looks on-screen like "NEA".

I find that after leaving it overnight with nothing on it (but the battery still in) that when I fire it up again next day the display has defaulted to showing the power setting, although I usually change it to display atomiser resistance. Is this an "undocumented feature" of mine or has anyone else found this? It's hardly a big deal, but a bit puzzling.

I printed these instructions out and have them near computer for reference.
As a note us older folks dont say were old we use CRS as an excuse. ; )
Speaking of CRS, this eve i made bacon and eggs, hashbrowns and cornbeef hash for dinner and buttered toast.
Went to put the egg carton in fridge and lifted the little door for the butter dish.
Note egg carton does not go and does not come close to fitting there !

here is instructions for Zmax 8th menu function RMS .

1. Uu Adjust Voltage Up

2. Ud Adjust Voltage Down

3. So Standby (On/Off)

4. Uc Check voltage of battery

5. Ds Various Displays Sub-Menu

Do Display atomizer/cartomizer output voltage
Du Display battery output voltage
Dr Display atomizer/cartomizer resistance

6. LED On/Off

7. Voltage Power

Po: Constant Power (wattage) operation
Uo: Constant Voltage operation

8. Change voltage calculation method, RMS or mean calculation

In the event of a fault, the following error codes may appear on your ZMAX device:

LOR - Atomizer/cartomizer resistance is too low

LOU - Battery voltage is too low, replace or charge battery

WSC - Short circuit in faulty atomizer/cartomizer

It should only do that when you change the battery. Is your battery loose inside and maybe not making a connection when you are laying it down?

Mine has done this 2 times, yesterday and today. Not overnight, but while using it. I set LED to "oF" but it will show resistance until I pull the battery for 5 seconds. Today I caught what it does before it starts this, it had random stuff on the screen and a few flashes, then went to "888" and reset to VV and all settings defaulted. Just pulled battery and made the settings I wanted and it has been fine since.

That's not normal. Yours has a problem.

That could be a loose ground connection.

So the 3 dashes while very cool, are actually saying the device is not firing ...

Thanks for the quick reply!!!

It's my understanding that three dashes mean that your display is on but standby is off. If the display is off and standby is off, the screen shows nothing. This is true for the VMax, not sure for the Z.

Three dashs means "will not fire" when fire button is pushed
