...the exact same chip as the Zmax V2 but with a Gripper style button arrangement and screen.

Fraid not.....the board isn't the same.

It may have similar components mounted in a different configuration and slightly similar software, but the two are not one in the same.

It a completely different board.

I stand corrected sir.
Different board but almost exactly the same output as the V2;

Look at it this way, if we'd seen results like this a month ago from a $39 mod we would have been shouting it from the rooftops.

I received my Zmax V2 today and here is my first thought about it.
The short cap and the extended cap both have the long spring, my chrome v1 short cap came with a short spring, I will fix that later.
If I change from stacked 18350's to 18650 and do it fast enough that the memory is held it doesn't fire but displays "LOU".
After reducing wattage setting it fires for a moment at the higher setting.
They fixed the threads problem nicely, fit and finish is much improved.
Regarding 8th menu, works as they say it does.
Pretty nice but I will probably continue using my Vmax v1 as my workhorse.
Do I like it, yes, this is how it should have been done the first time but then it wouldn't have generated all the buzz about being "beastly"

Additional: The body and battery cap is magnetic but the 510 end appears to be of a higher grade stainless as it is not magnetic. I thought it might be plated brass but that is not the case, I'm impressed.
I won't be wearing those threads out like I eventually do with the 510 shorty's.

EDIT: I should have removed the batteries and spring as all of the Stainless steel is non magnetic

It's still beastly in "mean" mode though!

In voltage/mean mode it is more "beastly" than v1 Zmax or v1 Vmax with stacked batteries anyway.
I just wish that it stopped firing immediately when I release the fire button but I already knew it wouldn't.
I have to use it for a while now to make sure it isn't hiding some defects.
I am using Smok 2.0 ohms DC carto in a tank, on the Vmax it is set to 4 volts (this is my every day vape setup)
To achieve the same results I have to set Zmax v2/stacked/mean/volts to 3.3 volts (on display), pretty mean (pun intended)

Still cheap for it's accuracy though.

Less than $60 VW...

Yep 60.00 is a good price for VW but if you add 10.00 for SS you are up to 70.00 and getting close to ZMax's price. If there is a co-op for them I'll probably pick one up especially if they come up with SS which I'm sure they will.
