OK my zmax just did it again and I did nothing so I could watch it.

The light was not on. But my juice was still popping like crazy. There's no way the current wasn't flowing through the wire still. And it wasn't that it was over hot or anything because as soon as it stopped I took a hit again right away and it was normal, cut off as soon as the button was released.

It's the crappy button on the ZMax. I like the button on the V2/R4 VMax alot better. When I'm toking on the ZMax it will go into the menu settings even though I didn't click the button 3 times...really annoying.

I think the spring in the extension cap is too long and too strong to use with stacked 18350s (but it is great in the extension cap with a single 18650; the standard cap is useless IMO), but the spring from a ProVari is just right as a replacement for the Zmax spring. You can get a "maintenance kit" from ProVape which has two ProVari springs in it. The long Q-Tips are also useful for cleaning the Zmax positive post ...

It depends on which spring you got with your extention cap. I can stack withouth too much tention on my center post with either button top or flat tops batteries.

Both the springs I got in the standard cap and the extension cap are the same size. Both are, IMO, too long and too strong. Before I discovered that the ProVari spring would fit, I flame-compressed one of the stock Zmax springs to the height of the ProVari spring and it works fine in the extension cap for stacking 18350s; the original Zmax spring works in the extension cap with the single 18650 ... apparently there are two different length springs available for the Zmax, one long and strong and the other shorter and weaker?

Here is how I am handling the spring situation. I have both caps and one short spring and one long spring.
Instead of changing caps for the respective battery set up, I change the spring only and only use the extended cap for either battery set up.
Of coarse this advise is only any good if you have both long and short springs and an extended cap.

Now I have got to figure out how to not lose the spring that's not in use.

Hummm ... apparently, there ARE two different size springs for the Zmax, but I got the longer one (I guess) in both the standard and extension caps. Anyway, problem sorted, at least for me ...

Thanks guys for the info!:toast: I have the extended cap but was helping Yiddle find one. I only use the extended too and find the standard one useless. It puts lots less pressure on the 18650 batteries I use and works fine with them. I don't use the stacked 18350's but did try it with them and it also works good with them too.

I posted the earlier in a couple of threads but it is probably good to put it up again because this is more of a problem than one might think. springs.jpg

NOTE: 5 coils vs 4 coils

You could always cut the spring I guess?

I was trying to fix that spring when it went flying................never to be seen again LOL

Many thanks for the links, cause I've got orders in for another end cap and will be ordering the provari kit.

If you happen to have a ss vmax, the end cap from that appears to work like the extension cap. ;)
