Ok guys..... I am about to order some smoktek cartomizers and ibtanked tanks. I have a few questions before I do this though. I am not an electrician so I don't understand ohms law or watts and volts or whatever. SO anyway here is the issues.

At present I am using a vivi nova 2.8o head on a Zmax vaping at 6 watts using 30/70-50/50 dark sweet coffee type juices.

Hubs vapes on an ego-c with a kanger t3 or t2 and prefers maraschino cherry 80/20.

So my questions are as follows...

1. In my cart I have for me a 3ohm 2 hole single coil XL tank, for hubs a 2ohm 2 hole single coil XL tank. Did I choose correctly?

2. With each of our vaping habits how long will each carto last?

3. Do you clean between each tank of juice even if you don't change juices?

4. If you do clean carto's, HOW do you clean them? My Vivi nova heads I soak in Everclear then warm water. Do I do the same with carto's?
5. When do you know that a carto needs replaced?

6. With initial order how many of each carto should I order so we have back-ups?

PS I will also be ordering glass tubes and SS caps from IBTanked 19mm XL with I am guessing extra o-rings?
Also unless I am mistaken I don't think I can use 1 of these with it? http://phiniac.com/cmspage.php?page_id=33

I use 3.0 Ω SmokTek cartomizers on my Twist at 4.2 volts, so by an OHM chart, that's 5.88 watts. I also have some 2.0 Ω carto's A use at 3.4 volts, which should be 5.78 watts.

The carto's can last up to a month, but if you don't clean them regularly, they won't last as long. Also, the type of juice can have an influence.

One hole may be enough with 80/20 juice. I use the 2 hole with 70/30, but probably can use one hole. With 30/70 juice, you definitely need two holes.

I clean about every two tanks, even if I do change juice. Changing flavors without cleaning is my own call, however. I find it doesn't take too long before the new flavor picks up.

I purchase 12 carto's at a time, but that's becuase of the price break, albeit relatively small. It is possible to get a DOA carto, but that hasn't happened to me yet.

I clean my carto's with the SmokTek Carto/Atty Cleaner Kit. It works great.

Yes, the IBTanked comes with an extra set of "O" rings.

I dont clean cartos myself, I do however keep a quart jar half full of everclear and toss them in that as I dont like to just toss them and if the Zombies come I can always break out the jar and get some more use out of them. Another thought was for the eventuality of when ecigs become as ubiquitous as analogs and the inevitable "can I bum a carto" comes along with it I will have a supply to hand out :)

As far as how long they last me, I keep one flavor in a tank and just keep refilling it. I dont believe time is a good measure of how long a carto lasts because we all vape different amounts. Volume seems much better to use because it could be related from one person to another but type of juice and vaping habit will also play a part. In my primary vape I use Flavor Arts watermelon flavor mixed into a 20m nicotine 60/40 PG/VG base. The flavor is added as 20% so it ends up being about 70/30 16mg. This is a clear flavor too, darker flavors will shorten carto life in most cases.

I will get anywhere from 20 to 30mls through a carto before I change it, this works out to about a week for me for this flavor. When the carto seems to drop off flavor or becomes tight to draw is when I change it.

The carto I use in this tank is a smok 3.2ohm single coil 2 hole and I use it on a VV device between 5 and 5.5V

Hope that gives you some ideas to work from. One of the most important things in vaping to me has been the trying of different things to see what works best 'for me'. The next person will likely find their sweet spot very different than mine so you always need to take recommendations as guides rather than absolutes. My wife using the same setup as outlined above but using 20/80 for example will run it at 4 to 4.5V for what she likes but she probably gets close to the same volume of juice through it over a longer period of time. So very different voltages, different juice viscosity and different schedule for changing but close to the same on volume.

I looked for the cleaner but didn't find it on their site. Where can it be found? Since my juices are pretty close to the same as in dark sweet coffee types I would only clean it if it failed to work correctly. Hubs changes his flavors depending on what he has left... lol

OK, I THINK I understand. See I thought it was you HAD to use a certain OHM for each different power source like him using the ego C and me using the Zmax so I wasn't sure what I was supposed to order for certain.

At present I am using a 30/70-50/50 dark sweet coffee type juices.

Hubs prefers maraschino cherry 80/20.

So my questions are as follows...

1. In my cart I have for me a 3ohm 2 hole single coil XL tank, for hubs a 2ohm 2 hole single coil XL tank. Did I choose correctly?
Perfect choices.

2. With each of our vaping habits how long will each carto last?
The darker colored coffee flavor and higher vg ratio will clog the polyfil in the carto sooner, so will need to be replaced sooner than a clearer colored flavor and less vg ratio. Expect 3-4 tankfulls with the darker juices, 5-6 tankfulls with the clearer juices.

3. Do you clean between each tank of juice even if you don't change juices?
No, just refill the tank with more juice.

5. When do you know that a carto needs replaced?
There will be an increasingly stiffer draw when you vape, probably a decrease in flavor also, as the polyfill becomes more clogged with unvapable particles.

6. With initial order how many of each carto should I order so we have back-ups?
This all depends upon how heavy of a vapor you are, how much juice you consume, how many tanks you are using simultaneously. Buy a dozen of each to start with.

PS I will also be ordering glass tubes and SS caps from IBTanked 19mm XL with I am guessing extra o-rings?
The tanks come with extra o-rings and a "thingy".
Also unless I am mistaken I don't think I can use 1 of these with it? Tank Sizes & Cartos - Phiniac Rugged Pyrex Glass Tanks
The XL-V2 size Phiniac tanks use the 45mm cartomizers.

another question...
I was under the impression when using certain liquids that react negatively with plastic that every part needs to be glass or SS. Does this include the drip tip and what about the ceramic ones on IBT? I want COLOR!! I am looking at the merlot glass and trying to match at nice color with it...lol
The caps hubs is already irritated that I am spending so much on caps when I mainly vape coffee flavors so I should probably go with the acrylics to soften the blow a little bit. His thing is what if we AGAIN spend all this money and we don't like it just like we didn't like the dual coil cart.
So I am thinking if I just get a few of them, we can try it out and if we like then he won't be so against buying them. Pretty much he says we've saved no money by quitting smoking because we just switched to buying all this stuff. I can't really say he's wrong either which makes it that much harder talking him into it. UGH..... why didn't I just marry a millionaire instead of an Army guy turned postal worker? lol

Another perspective on the expense of vaping. The batteries/battery holders and juice holders are the more expensive items in vaping. Once you have a setup that you are happy with, expenses can begin to decline. The only things you will need after that are replacing the perishable/disposable things like cartomizers and juice, or additional tanks for the cartomizers.

On a side not, as I recall, you guys bought gear initially that was not recommended by the folks here that you asked advice from. That money could have gone towards gear that was better suited to your needs. Anyway, what can I say, you learn from your experiences, as we all have. It's all good.

Chances are a drip tip is not likely to get much exposure to the e-juice just sitting on the carto, so the material that a drip tip is made of likely doesn't matter. Ceramic is a baked clay material so they would be immune to flavor effects. However, the endcaps do have contact with the juice, so if there is a chance that you may use one of those risky flavors that can melt plastic, the stainless caps would be a better choice. Six of my tanks have the acrylic caps. I bought one tank with the stainless caps because I wanted to try a cinnamon juice for the first time.

lol You are right Bat.. you all did try to help and warn us but it is a learning thing and in the beginning how many think that they need the feel of a cig size to give up cigarettes? I actually thought about trying to sell them but not sure anyone would even want them. He is now talking about wanting something bigger for home with a tank but he wants to do something CHEAP and basic to see if we will like it before we sink a bunch into something else we might not like. I do however think we will though. ;) He just admitted today that vaping isn't something he enjoys, it's just something to get him by. He said he doesn't get a lot of flavor from his T3 and I REALLY think if he tried a cartomizer in a tank that it might be what he needs. I have to ask though... we have that dual coil tank that I bought with the Zmax that we didn't like. He put another hole in it but says even with 2 the draw is too tight. Will the 2 ohm 2 hole smoktech single coil cart that I was planning to get him be enough? He uses an ego battery for the moment but we do plan on getting him something bigger in the future.

The two hole prepunched Smoktek carto has worked for every juice that I've tried...except Boba's Bounty, which is nearly like honey in thickness (kidding). The 2.0 ohm single coil 2-hole-punched should be a match for a 3.7v eGo battery. Just be sure to prep the carto properly and fill the tank properly, as in the video that I frequently include.

Actually, that old carto that Marvin put another hole in was possibly already trash. They can dry up if not capped with the rubber condoms the cartos come shipped in, if not used within a week or two.

that's what we were thinking that maybe we killed that by not priming it right the 1st time.

Boba's is a tough one for Smoktech cartos to properly saturate. My solution to this is to slot them twice. I have been using a 3.5 ml dct tank with the flanged Smoktech cartos dual slotted and it has been working fine. Try it out and see how it works.
