"Smooth" would generally be determined by the e-juice, voltage applied, or a combination of the two. There may be other factors also, but those are the main ones. You have to start somewhere, so keeping it simple is the best way to go imo. You've probably heard this recomendation before, nevertheless, I'll make it anyway as it's the best starting point for a beginer to see where you might want to go next. An Ego Twist gives you the option of going from 3 to 6 volts, since this device is generally affordable it makes no sense to start with something that does'nt give you the tuning options that VV allows. I would suggest getting a mini vivi nova as your atty and juice feeding system. It'll come with a few different ohm coil heads to try, furthering your ability to tune the experience to your taste. It's also easy to clean and replace the coil heads when needed or even recoil and wick them if you so desire. There is some learning curve with these types of CE2 style devices, they are not perfect, but if you stick with it and make adjustments when necessary they work rather well.
As far is the e-juice goes I can only recomend what I know, and the smoothest juice i'm aware of is BWB Malty. It's very light on flavor and heavy on vapor due to it's 70/30vg/pg blend. I probably would'nt recomend a high vg% juice if I thought you were going to be a heavy vapor because for me personally its heavy vapor is too much for me to vape for extended periods of time, though many others have no problem with it at all. Flavorwise if I had to make a guess, and it would be just a guess, I'd say it's probably some kind of vanilla. It's a slightly sweet, very mellow vape. That's all I got, take it or leave it.
