I remember when I first investigated 'smoking'. I was GOING to 'do it' regardless of ANYONE's preconceived judgement...and that's what I did. I started with Marlboro 100's (cow killers). For the first year, a pack would last me about a week. In the second year, that all changed.

Since becoming a fulltime vaper (after 32+ years of 2+ packs per day of analogs), I can confidently say that if vaping had been an option back in 1979, I would never have been a smoker.

To the OP, I do not find nicotine to be as addictive in vaping, as it is in smoking analogs. (In MY experience, there's far more addicting chemicals in an analog than nicotine...and WTA in my vape helped me overcome it.) However, with smoking OR vaping, there IS an effect that lifts my spirits above the cloud of depression I always had...until I started smoking. Smoking analogs lifted my spirits, and I've found that a minimum level of about 6mg nic in my vape does the same thing for me. The difference is that I can now go for several days without vaping, and NOT experience a 'nic fit', but I could never go for even a few hours without smoking analogs.

If you're GOING to 'DO IT', def start with the vape! If you change your mind down the road, you'll actually be ABLE to change your mind.

Just to be sure you understand, my experience might be different from others posting above. Even after 32+ years of smoking 2p/d, vaping allowed me to be FREE from smoking. If it wasn't for the clouds of depression that follow being 100% nic free, I probably wouldn't be a vaper today...but I probably WOULD be taking tranquilizers! I prefer vaping over prescription drugs!

If you're GOING to 'DO IT', I suggest 0 to 6 mg nic (max); flavors such as Blackberry Champagne (E-Liquid, Flavored Liquid Nicotine for E-Cigs - Buy Online Now!), Cola (from Kickbassvapor), Licorice (from Madvapes), or my fav - Casablanca (from Backwoods Brew).

If you're NOT a smoker, go with minimum nic. If you ARE a smoker, I suggest 24mg to start, then ween yourself down to about 6mg after a few months.

On the otherhand, if you're only after 'the vape' and blowing FOG, go with pure unflavored VG. (Might have to dilute it with a bit of distilled water or vodka to make it flow, but you'll get clouds of vapor!)

I believe most folks start and continue smoking because they found something beneficial happening in their overall 'spirit' as a result. That's also why folks take prescription tranquilizers for years and years. I'd rather vape than take prescription drugs.

If anyone wants to flame me, have at it...cuz nothing you can say will convince me otherwise...I already bet my life on it...and I was right! ;)

I searched, but couldn't find anything about ecigs which are good for non-smokers. Not much out there on the subject. Thanks for the input.

the only good will you find about ecigs being good,is that they are better then the actual stinkies ,,

still putting something into your lungs that shouldn't be there, but a far better choice then 4000 chemicals in combustion form

Like someone else said go with a twist or spinner and a couple of the Vision Vivi Novas or the stardusts with replaceable coil heads or one of the genesis style clones. As far as liquid goes look into the more savory types(vanilla or some of the baked goods) or a fruity type liquid. Personally i recommend thevaporgirl.com she has some great liquid and not overly expensive. Just my $.02.

You'd think that a community of smokers and former smokers would realize how obnoxious and judgmental the anti-smoking crowd is. If there were anyone who would respect personal freedom, one would think it would be this group. Society is doomed.

Trave back in time with me to a year ago when I was smoking a pack an a haf a day....

I'm outside smoking. You come up to me and say "I'm 27, old enough to make my own choices. Do you think I would like those Marlb lights? Maybe I should try menthol?" I would tell you it's stupid. I would tell you I wish I had never started. I would not help you chose what brand to start smoking.

THAT is likely where most everyone here is coming from. No one means offense, no matter how badly they conveyed the message of "why pick up a habbit you don't need?".

I've never smoked a cigarette in my life either. I've never been addicted to nicotine. I smoked 1-2 cigars a week and a pipe, all at a smoke shop. The reason I started vaping is because my wife hated the fact I was putting garbage in my body. Even though I was a very minimal smoker, she constantly worried. I started vaping because the nicotine does relax me as well.

I think the main difference between me and the OP is that I wanted to still enjoy the flavor and effects of tobacco without actually smoking. Extracted tobaccos hit the market and I was sold. I do occasionally vape other flavors but those are very few.

For the non-cigarette smoker turned vaper, here's a few tips:

1. You still don't have to inhale.
2. Do not get any nicotine over 12mg! You will literally overdose from nicotine if you vape too fast with high mg! Your body will sweat and you will want to throw up while the only thing you can do is wait for it to control itself.
3. You don't need a massive set up. You're really not going to care about throat hits and such.
4. Don't be a tool.

honestly, what I would recommend is since you say you where a casual cigar smoker, get a disposable vanilla e-cig i think vanilla is pleasing to almos eveeryon and is hard to mess up. Apollo had a disposable for a penny, not sure if it's still going on... make sure you get low low low nicotine, since your body does not "need" it.
also, i am too lazy to find it, but i have head of these rocks thingies that you can put into a hooka, and you still get a smoke but no tobacco.

to those who are opposed to non-smokers vaping for any reason, if you must post in threads like this, preface your post with your opinion that they shouldn't vape before providing additional information to the OP. if you aren't gonna provide anything additional besides just saying don't vape, then just refrain from posting altogether, especially when the OP explicitly says they don't want to hear don't do it. they are (presumably) a grown adult. every day someone picks up a cigarette for the first time and that will never change, even if they become illegal. so it might as well be an ecig. im quite certain they realize its better to simply breathe air but they obviously have a reason. maybe they're stressed out or are about to reach for a real cigarette or they do or have smoked cigars, pipes, done dip/chew. whatever the reason, if and until ecigs are classified as prescription relief from tobacco addiction, it is their right to vape. so bottomline preface your stmt with your belief they shouldn't start then help steer them in the right direction, or just don't post at all. they arent looking to be lectured.

If you ask me, on average, former smokers are some of the most judgemental people on the planet...followed closely by people who have gone from unhealthy to being "health nuts".

add to that list:
extremely bad people who are now "saved"
former drug users who are in favor of tougher penalties for drug possession/trafficking
former pr0n addicts who now lobby for its criminalization
etc etc etc

these types of people irritate me to no end. complete hypocrites. just because they cannot control their vices, the rest of us should be subjected to more legislation.

Hey Tyler. Vape if you want to. I didn't read this entire thread because it was making me mad. Another reason why I hate people.

Not sure if anyone actually recommended anything to you or not, but my :2c: is thus:

Get a couple eGo twists. Cheap, variable voltage and durable. Try a tank like a Vision Vivi Nova or Mini Nova. Good flavor and vape. And then my personal juice vendor preference is Heather's Heavenly Vapes. They have 14 naturally extracted tobacco juices. Many many pipe and cigar bases. They burn clean and taste great! Some require a few weeks of steeping as they aren't made until you order them.

Good luck and WELCOME!

me too. vices can ruin lives. whether its drugs, alcohol, sex, porn, video games, tv, overeating, prostitution, cigarettes, gambling, etc. however, everyone should have the right to do what they wish with their own body. i am in favor of legalizing everything i just mentioned. what is legal and what is not legal makes no sense whatsoever. somebody can ruin their life playing world of warcraft 20 hours a day and break no law and somebody can consume a substance, harm nobody (including themselves) and be thrown in jail for five years for possessing that substance. its utterly ridiculous. all vices should be legal and the money currently being used to criminalize them should be put into helping ppl whose vices become addictions that harm themselves and society.

I realize you're being facetious with that last, but I certainly hope this isn't the prevalent attitude among vapers. The notion that being a smoker or former smoker somehow gives you exclusive dominion over the pleasures of vaping is patently absurd.
