enjoy your dinner somehow, bear, and be nice!
I was VERY nice... I guided the manager away from the waiting mob...
So, their website says "When you are ready for great food but don't have time to wait, please call ahead! We will be glad to put your name on our waiting list!". PERIOD... that is ALL it says. So, I call ahead about 25 minutes before we leave and tell "Ashley" there will be 8 people for 18h30. (
I fully understand it does NOT mean we will sit right down at that time, especially given it was a Saturday night and on "restaurant row". I do GET that! It is NOT a reservation.) "Ashley" says that call-ahead is for arrivals at LEAST 1 hour from the time of call. I did not say anything at that time... saving THAT for arrival. So Hus and I get there... it's mobbed... I check in. "It'll be 60-75 minutes." NOT on waiting list, even with the call. I ask for the manager. Calmly explain the lack of my name on waiting list AND that the website says nothing about calling ahead by "at least 1 hour".
Result: Hus and I had the table in less than 5 minutes ... before anybody else even got there. And we had a very nice waiter who was ABSOLUTELY "part of the group", if you get my drift!
Hus has his own "saga" for later this morning. He special ordered a cake that included two specifics (noted right on the order form): Whipped cream frosting and writing in "any color except pink". The cake had pink writing and was butter cream. I am sure he'll be getting a full refund via store gift card.
