B) You already think ahead of time that the call-ahead thing is B.S. (because no direct-experience for 18 years)

Yes... all call-ahead is . We have called-ahead at a number of places and have found that it does NOT reduce waiting time once in the door. I have also seen my/our name written down on the waiting list AFTER arriving - more than once. Should it not already BE on the list from the call?

Why would expectations be all rosy and Pollyanna when experiences proved differently? You are ONLY setting yourself up for disappointment.

I go at it the other way around. Expect ... and then be elated when it works out well.

When I EXPECT and then GET , there is a feeling of smugness AND I have had time to construct a course of action.

New exploit in Widows IE browser. MS will NOT be fixing the XP version. Hackers are on this like candy.

Since i'm in paranoid cynical mode today, i kinda gotta wonder if microsoft helped the browser vulnerability along a little because people haven't been upgrading their OS fast enough...or if they're just gonna take advantage of it

I seriously doubt they "helped it along" at all. Nada.
However, "taking advantage of it" is not at all surprising since they announced they'd drop support. MS (and most large companies) will take advantage of stuff.
