Good morning, Sniffle. Four 12 hours shifts? Yikes. that's not an easy schedule. glad you got your turkey fix.

Good morning, Mad. The news reads as if things are starting to quiet down a bit in your area. I hope so.

I did do a bit online buying yesterday. I ordered a new insert for my electric fireplace, 'cause my old one died. It's basically a glorified space heater, but it emits warmth and pretends to have flames. It should arrive tomorrow. It's not the type of thing that goes on sale for black Friday. In fact the one i got is $1 more today, and another one is $10 more today.

Of course i had turkey. :D

With about 10 of us all bringing stuff, we had a pretty good feast. And just to make it really traditional, there were a couple of people who like to talk politics....

You'd have been proud of me yesterday. I totally avoided talking politics. And religion. And Ferguson. And anything controversial.
Of course, as a result, I didn't talk much either. ;)

Here's a link to an interesting story claiming ecigs have 10 x's more carcinogens than analogs. The story doesn't give the parameters of the juice used or how or what device was used to determine the outcome.
E-cigarettes contain 10 times amount of carcinogens: Japan research

As you all know, I'm getting a rDNA 40 pv. One of the features of the new chip board is temperature control (coil temp). In order to take advantage of this feature one will need to use nickel wire. Nickel wire has its detractors as being safe at any temperature. The more I look into this I'm starting to get scared about using kanthal or any type of wire, especially when it comes to sub-ohming. I have a lot more to research and learning to do.

Morning Tibs.

@Pepper....
Caution is almost always a good thing. I vape at just enough watts to vaporize the juice...and in normal ranges. If that's "too much" or "too little" IDK. But my main reason for staying away from the cloud chasing is concerns like that article voiced.

Now, how much of that article is correct, exactly what methods they used, etc. IDK.

There's so many devices out there, there's so much variation, it's hard to say. There are studies showing 100 to 1000 times LESS nasty stuff in e-cigs...but many of them use the super-mini cig-a-likes (low power e-cigs).

I have to remember I'm doing this to
1) Quit smoking
and
2) reduce harm

So I try for a minimalist approach. I'm vaping unflavored most of the time too. As long as it keeps me off the stinkies, it's working. I keep telling myself ...4.5 years...keep going.

lol. me too. I've been using the provari for years now and I believe it has a maximum output of 15 watts and I use a 2.2 ohm bottom coil atty. Much of what I have to say on this subject is thinking out loud. It's how I educate myself.:)

lol, pepper! what do you think is in your tanks? they all gotta have a coil ;)

morning, atty, ces, mad and that pepper man! ooops! and sniffle :D

yes, I know. I'm just thinking out loud. However, I am really concentrating on the whole sub-ohming thing and how much power is being sent to these coils and the effect of so much power on the coil and the juice vaped. You could try being a little help to poor Pepper.;)

I'm trying to figure out what gauge of nickel wire I want, the number of wraps, the diameter of the coil, etc. Also, are there different types of nickel wire, ie, is ni200 different than pure nickel wire. I'm a little confused because everything I am reading the author(s) speak(s) like everyone knows what is going on with different acronyms and such.:)

p.s. I would like to keep my coil as close to 1 ohm as possible, rather than seeing how low I can go.

So i think the temps (from a discussion on the FB THR page) said that they were measuring in the dry hit range. Dry hits taste awful, not inhaling that. ick.

(I vape at 5-7 watts)

This is one of the features that the dna 40 is supposed to stop or help mitigate. the temperature control notes a rise in the temperature of the coil, that the vaper pre-sets, and backs off on the wattage supplied to the atty to prevent dry hits and burning of the cotton etc.
