Morning everyone.
Where's Tibs off to?
vaping happily again today. Not crazy about the juice I got. I swear it tasted better in the store when I was testing it out...
Avoided at least 3 stinkies this morning, although, I did start off with one this morning. Hard habit to break. :glare:

YES! It is a nasty habit to break. Getting off tobacco seems to be your goal, so I'll let ya know what I did if it helps:

I "paralleled" for a while. Finished off the packs I had around and vaped more and more as I got closer to the last of the cigs. Made dang sure I had the e-cig stuff working and spare coils (and spare e-cig) first. I didn't want to be without anything. So I "made the switch" gradually.

But I also kept in my mind:
1) How nasty the products of combustion are
2) How stinky cigs are
3) How they were ruining my health. Smoking is the worst way to get nic.
4) How the addiction had control over me and how it was socially unacceptable
5) How nasty it was going outside to smoke in the winter
6) Taxes going to state/fed....
7) $$$ going to BT (Big Tobacco) that lied to us and chose not to develop safer cigs when they had the chance

And also
8) The savings I was going to have
9) The health benefits to my lungs and body from getting rid of about 7000 chemicals that I don't need (+/- a few)

And so I looked at that last pack, and decided I'd finish it. And decided I won't give them any more $$$$$ that way.

There is withdrawal. So you have to push through it when you get to the zero cigs point. It's possible (well, was for me) and you can do it. Week 3 was the worst. But I pushed through it. Vaped my .... off.

You have to "program yourself" and think about it. You have to convince yourself you're going to be done, that your tired of ruining your health, paying mega $$$ and also that you're mad a BT and all the taxes too. That you want to make a change, even if you're still addicted to nic. That you'll stop rationalizing smoking.

That worked for me. Doesn't work for everyone though.

Good morning Lost and Atty

Lost, it took me about 6 weeks to switch over fully. Don't pressure yourself. Avoiding 3 of 4 is pretty darned good for your first day back. I hope you got a couple of different flavors to try.

I did it with my last carton. I looked at it and just decided "those are the last ones I will buy". So I switched over as I went. Vaped more and smoked less. Until I finished em off. I think I had a smoke-free day before I had finished the last pack. Still finished it the next day or so. ;) Didn't waste em. Just finished em. Took about 2 weeks to cut over to 100% vaping...if I remember correctly. Then the real withdrawal hit about 3 weeks in. Some headaches and sleep changes, quit zits, and I even had some vaper's tongue for a bit. But it all passes as you detox.

As you're going through it, just tell yourself that you're detoxing. Remember your body has to adjust to NOT having all that nasty stuff.

It's funny how different everyone is. I had to do the opposite. When i try to convince myself like Atty does, i get obstinate, oppositional, and feel deprived. I had to let myself slow down gradually. I got to a point where i could just ask myself "do i really want this cig"? It wasn't until i was at 1-2 cigs per day that i even let myself think i might quit smoking. And i didn't really believe it until a couple of days after my last smoke.

What worked for you the last time, Lost? A similar mindset is likely to be a good place to start.

Time to get the (shoulda been a vacay) day started.

Stay warm and dry y'all :)

Thanks guys. To me, the hardest part of the habit to break is the psychological one. So getting up and having a stinky in the morning is more about routine to me, than getting a nic fix. The last time I switched from smoking to vaping it was actually pretty easy. As long as I have the hand to mouth, drawing in, TH and watching the exhale, I'm good. Now the quest is on once again for the ADV. Once I find that, I'm set. I have some juices on order. Just waiting for them to come. The one I got last night will have to hold me over until then. I still have practically a whole pack of smokes, so if I really get the urge, I'm gonna have one. Once that pack is gone, I'm done. So far, though, I'm not really craving them ATM - except for when I woke up this morning.

IDK if it makes a diff to you or not Lost, but back when I did this, I had a cig-a-like as well as an eGo style PV.
As you save $$$, you can divert them to other stuff...different juices, maybe a cig-a-like PV too. That fills the psychological aspects of the habit pretty well.

IDK if I believe in the "ADV" thing. Just do what works. Keep 20 flavors around to mess with if you want. Hell, I started with DIY so I could have something to mess with and occupy my time. Whatever you do, don't put up any hurdles. Like "I must have an ADV or I'm not doing it right". Bah.
