Fran - I thought about the winter thing. Sorry. I probably would dread it too if I lived in snow much of the winter every year. Right now I can't wait until I retire in Dec. so I can go where there is some snow!
CES - not a very good summer. My dad died in mid-July so I spent much of the summer running up and down the road to TN to visit with him. SO glad I got to spend some time with him at the end.
I lost a baby kitten this past Monday. Sort of traumatic trying to give it mouth to mouth and a rush to the emergency clinic. The two babies left are keeping me busy but they are finally off the bottle. Thank heavens!
I do retire pretty soon but the school year is going sooooo slow!

I'm glad you had time to spend with your dad. Being able to say goodbye made a huge difference when i lost my dad a few years ago. The fresh grief makes it even harder to lose a kitten. Though i know you did everything you could, and more. ((((hugs)))

no recent kitty pics, those rascals don't hold still long enough and callie's attitude hasn't improved - still won't come to me .... sigh

Yes, it's been difficult and a times I have wondered about my sanity. I've had a period of extreme anger that I couldn't explain. No one had done anything to me yet I was ballistic. That is dying down now thank heavens.

All sorts of emotions can be triggered at the drop of a hat. I'm glad that part is settling down a bit.
but it does heal, and the ache becomes less sharp over time
I also lost my oldest dog a few weeks ago. While i was out of town, the (ex-)lawn guy left my gate open and my beastie was killed by a car.

Oh noooooooooooooo! I am so, so sorry. What a terrible thing to happen. (((((((CES)))))))))
Stuff happens, it sucks, and we (eventually) get through it. The only way to avoid loss is to not care, and I'd prefer to love even if it does include grief.
