Yeah, but the logic of that, in and of itself, falls a bit flat, because there's two 'l''s. Why isn't it "proly"? Because "proly" just seems wrong, compared to the normal "prolly". So I think it prolly came from spoken word first, and then prolly made it into common use on the net as a convenience, as you said. Prolly. ;) :p

(I use it sometimes too, for the ease of typing thing)

Since this is the internet, i thought internet-speak was appropriate. However, it may have more to do with being in alabama too long. The majority of spoken words here become 2-syllables.

Talledega = 'dega
Alabama= 'Bama
Probably = 'prolly

Many one syllable words become drawn out into two syllables too. I think it's a rule ;)
