thanks, frannie!
and ................
break a leg, atty! - sure hope i did this right
Uh...
You don't say "break" and have me traveling in my car in the same idea-concept-sentence....
OK, so I'm back.

That's the good news, made it.
I go to GF's and take the lights off the tree. Check.
Her son and friend are using her car, for various irrelevant reasons.
So, I need to drive her to get lunch, and to Walgreens on an errand. Check.
Bonus: free lunch, she buys.
We get done with lunch, and are heading to Walgreens and the "beep!" of the dash computer warning thing happens and "check gauges" goes lit.
I check gauges, because if anything, I'm pretty literal when it comes to stuff like that.

Battery gauge is reading zero.
(swears, curses, expletives and other such utterances omitted here)
So we're at Walgreens. I turn off the car, and pray. I'm thinking Hmm...maybe gauge broke, or maybe sensor for gauge, or maybe alternator, or maybe electrical system stuff somewhere. I wonder if I turn the car off, or keep it running. I turn it off. Battery is fairly new, so I'm hoping it has enough charge and/or the alternator is working a bit and/or who knows, but I want to save any remaining charge.
GF goes in for probably 10 minutes or so but it seems like 30 because I'm ticked. She comes out and I explain that I'm taking her directly home, maybe, if we make it.
We leave. The gauge shows 10 volts before I turn it all, and sort-of 10 volts, down to zero, then up, then down....then stay down. So now I"m thinking...hmmm, maybe just belt. Not a breaker lose or anything. Kinda worked, for a bit then quit again.
I take her home, drop her off, take me home, pull into the garage....
Shut the engine off....steam coming out from under car! Grrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Water pump? Hmm. Go look under hoot, steam. See coolant falling out the front, not radiator, but around where water pump would do it's thing (not sure).
Too ticked off to mess with it now. Put bucket under leak. Close hood. Swear some more.
I'm inside now.
vaping my .... off. Wondering how to even begin diagnostics and deciding that I won't until tomorrow.
Hoping like heck that I didn't crack a block or something. Water temp gauge was good but that may not mean too much.
Maybe belt was just totally slipping. Need a new one anyway.
Maybe water pump was seizing causing the other problems.
Maybe alternator was seizing and caused the water pump problem.
Maybe I'm tired of this.
IDK if water pumps, alternators or maybe belts have legs Tibs...........
