I suppose the only other option is to have it pulled. Not crazy about the idea of walking around toothless, though.

That doesn't sound like a great option. Is there a dental school in your area? sometimes you can get good, lower cost services through a school.
I'm not sure about that but I will have to check into it. My insurance isn't worth squat.

Not quite spending my day off the way I wanted to, but I'm far from complaining. Thankfully, the State & Emissions inspection for my car went quickly and without any issues. Waiting for some guys to finish capping my front porch. Fingers crossed there'll be no more puddles after the smallest rain shower.
Back to cleaning the house...

Just got back from the dentist. Looking at 1300 bucks to get my tooth fixed.
and how certain is that dentist a crown on THAT tooth will last long enough to justify the investment?

I have a tooth on the opposite side of my mouth that is in the same shape. Needs a root canal, and a crown. If it's just going to break off at some point anyway, I'm thinking I may as well forego the root canal.

I think they have to take the root out if they crown it like that or it will get infected and painful...their whole reason to remove it is that it gets exposed/decayed and then trouble starts...I think. So I think you end up with the RC anyway. I could be wrong...

yeah, well ............. some will save just for the sake of saving
i sure will miss my periodontist - always got a straight answer from her. she gave my tooth maybe a 5yr survival rate if crowned. with that i opted for an implant plus crown ...................
it's all of the above. a little under the weather. i'll get over it. a big old smooch from tibby would probably help.

getting a root canal is no guarantee... to lightly say it. by the time you spend the $$ on a root canal and a crown (that won't last), you might as well get a implant.
