Apparently, the home depot store where i got supplies for my brother to do work around the house was one of those involved in the credit card security breach. Last i checked, i didn't think my store had been involved and i hadn't seen any untoward charges. But, apparently my debit card number must have been at risk, since my bank sent me a new card yesterday. reasonable customer service- what a concept.

Atty...

...regarding that "interactive restaurant table" thing you mention in Outside...

...so now dining companions can be even MORE distracted and distant? Aren't cell phones bad enough? What happened to just sitting and talking with other people LIVE and IN-PERSON?

...anecdote: Hus and I went to a local Chili's about a month ago. We were handed TABLETS on the way to the table. They were to be used for ordering. We sat for a few moments and saw random food-runners bringing meals and drinks to the tables (different ones for the same table). Not waiters or waitresses. The one upside is that we decided there would be no tip involved in the visit. We asked one of these bringers-of-the-food if we could have actual printed menus and a real person take our order. The reply was a cheerful and smiling "give the tablets a try! they are really neat!!!" in a brainwashed special-needs cult-like tone. The downside is we walked out, but only after speaking rather loudly with the manager and demanding our gift cards be turned in for cash because we were never coming back. We did get our money... and I'm sure it was to PREVENT us from coming back.
