so i took the dogs for a walk in the park. There was this large brick-red spider climbing its silk up into the green leaves of the tree. Quite a contrast, the dark red against the bright green. Enough so that as i was trying to take a picture, a blue jay swooped in and gobbled the spider right up.

No donuts for me, but the bird got quite nice breakfast.

excellent, one less spider in this world. I hadn't commented on this, but near the end of my stay in florida I was bitten by ? (some insect, I'm blaming a spider) and developed cellulitis. My hand swelled up and I had to go to the emergency room. I wasn't going to go but the dr. at the emergency room said it was a good thing I did. I was on antibiotics for 10 days.

I used to mow leaves in one direction...there was a "wild" lot next door to me.

Now....I just mulched em up. Front yard anyway. Pfffft! I'm NOT bagging that stuff. Nor burning it.. Let it go back in the ground as nutrients.
.... retentive neighbors (or anyone else that doesn't like it), can.....How do you say that Bear?....you know what.

I went for a dog walk once in the dark and walked right into a huge spider web that was stretched across the path we were on--I didn't see it. I ended up covered in spider slime from the top of my head to my waist.... Eeekkkkkk..... I still shiver when I think about it.

Hi Atty--no leaves here to rake. But I remember piles of leaves in our backyard in West Hartford, CT. The kids loved to jump in them!
