It's the leaves... ;) (Bear comment forthcoming)

If you have few enough leaves to get by without bagging or raking (as mentioned in a previous post by you), then you get NO sympathy or empathy from me.

I think it's playing "Hearts and Flowers For You".

And when I say I BAG the leaves, it's not like most people where they GINGERLY place the leaves one-by-one into a bag and tie it up when it gets half-full.

I stuff those bags until the seams stretch. Fill... kneel-on... fill more... kneel again... and still more. Such that if the leaves are wet, that bag has to be ROLLED because of the weight.

:glare:

"It's the leaves", indeed. My bass.

Oh...

... and the (AC-powered) leaf blower died on Monday. It went "ftzzzt!" and a small wisp of smoke came out. Be it known it has not been used on lawn/yard leaves in almost a decade. The rake is best. I just use it to clear the deck, patio and driveway. That's all.

So, I went to a store to buy a new one, just for the purposes I described above. And I decided to go cordless. (Next up: the string trimmer.) I am really tired of battling the 2x 200-foot extension cords.

This $149 piece of JUNK could not blow a cotton ball off a teflon surface. What the HELL am I going to do with THAT?!?! Back it goes later today and I'll try a different one.

I could do better on my hand and knees huffing and puffing at the ground, while smoking. And NO snide/offensive/stereotypical remarks for the peanut gallery.

I have a small light-duty Li-Ion trimmer that came with a "free" blower. It has 2 Li-Ion battery packs.

They don't last a LONG time...but it's enough for what I need. Can usually do the front yard and around the house on 1 pack. (They take a while to charge, of course. That's partly why they include 2 batteries.)

The blower is kinda weak by other standards. But it was enough to move leaves and grass off sidewalks and decks. batteries last even less for it. Maybe 5 minutes per battery when blowing. But how long do you need? Definitely NOT a yard-clearer. But light and portable.

Otherwise, get gas powered. I know the small engines with 2-cycle stuff are a bit of a pain, but they have power!

ANY hand-held gas powered yard implement gets my disdain because of the noise. The white trash inbred daughter-lover across the road has gas powered EVERYTHING. And you should HEAR that nuclear-powered RIDING mower... for his tiny .25-acre lot. What a freaking JERK.

But yeah... all I need is a blower that can last about 15 minutes and things will be OK.

I'm looking at the B&D 40-volt string trimmer. It'll go on my Christmas-giftie list. Don't need it NOW.

This coming Monday, I'll try (again this year) putting >10 bags out at the curb and see what happens, just for fun. Our waste pickup company has a 10 bag limit. (And all the bags I have done so far this week have to go in the garage so the little Halloween demon-spawn don't slice them open.)

Raking and bagging: 36%-40% complete (per average).
