wonder if it means that we hit the big time...or just that we'll make a bigger target.

My university is considering a full smoking/tobacco/e-cig ban on campus and they're aking for feedback. sorta. the request for feedback didn't get sent out broadly, but a friend has my back and made sure to send it around. Completely unenforceable on an open campus with city streets and sidewalks all across campus. grrr.

Not yet...we have until December 5th and i need to update my reference list. I've contacted them before, when the topic came up in a faculty senate meeting last spring. Obviously they listened

I still say it's more or less unconstitutional. Of course, it's private property and they can "ask you to leave...permanently."

It's totally UN-American IMHO.
And where are all the protesting college students when their rights get trashed?

I realize that there's a giant social vilification of tobacco agenda...social engineering. But they are taking it too far.

Makes you wonder if that Ancient Aliens guy with the hair is right about some things and there's hidden insect aliens ruling the shadow government and they hate nicotine (insecticide). Just kidding.

But it's getting out of hand.

Oy...

My DDs live on non-smoking and non-vaping campuses. Everybody vapes. But they have to go beyond the campus property line to have a cig. At the same time, binge drinking (with throwing up, passing out, date rape etc.) never bothers anyone. A bar at Isla Vista (UC Santa Barbara) used to give free drinks to students over 21 (which is against the law), and it resulted in a death of a student. That student was a son of a friend of ours (and former mayor of the city of Irvine). It was in all the papers. The punishment for the bar owner? They had to close the bar for 2 weeks between Dec. 15 and Dec. 30 that year--which just happens to coincide with UC system winter break when all the student are gone anyway...

If they need feedback, tell them the story.
