I was trying to avoid putting "ACA" and "optimism" in the same post. With this post, I've failed.
My rate doubled. The rate increases are "double digit" according to many posts, but my rate is 100% increase (actually higher). Something is wacky, but I need to figure it out and have a week to do it. Sigh. Grrr.

And what's worse, my "crystal ball" as to estimating my income isn't much better than it was last year.

The country needs to
1) Dump Medicaid, so there's no "cut off" and just figure out how to deal with state vs fed funding for this stuff and keep the citizens out of it.
2) Get a handle on specialist costs and the cost side in general.
3) Maybe just privatize it all. Loose Medicare too (but subsidize an equivalent privatized plan).
4) Fire/eliminate all the medicare and medicaid related people and processes.

-or-

Go the other way and eliminate all the privatized stuff. (Probably a bad idea, and also not gonna happen anytime soon).

Dropped the parents off at the airport earlier this morning. They need to get this snowbird thing down a little better b/c the car they stashed down in FL is still licensed in MO and they have to drive the thing back to renew the plates...

And I'm trying not to worry about them driving such a long distance. :(

My aunt and uncle are snowbirds. They drive though, and don't fly. So the car stays with them. IDK if they have multiple cars anymore. But I think they are registered here. They do it while they are here.

If your parents are keep the car in FL, can't they register it there? Or is it % of year they stay...etc. IDK. It gets crazy. Where is "primary residence"?

Primary residence is MO. My dad looked into the insurance issues, etc., and found that it would be too expensive to have the car registered in FL.

shucks, atty - it has to get better sometimes :(

basic health insurance should be a right for all ....................

Yeah. IDK about a "right"...but maybe so. I'd think that any sufficiently advanced civilized society could figure it out. We can go to the moon, and plan for Mars, but we can't figure out how to simplify and streamline this HC stuff. Because it's $$$$$ and political.

Maybe we should turn the entire government over to scientists, mathematicians and logistics experts, with a branch for "care and empathy". Note that eliminates the $$$$$ influences. Basically, a "Just do whatever makes the most sense and meets the highest standards".

physical inspection is needed...not sure if the MO-DMV would accept "test results" from a FL shop, or if a FL shop would even know what tests to run.

time to get to work...have a good day, snails!

Please for give me, Lord.:glare:

Please explain to me what a right is? And then explain to me what a need is?

Yeah, I questioned the "right" thing too.
But you don't have a "right" to clean water, do you? Or electricity, or national defense, or anything like that. So debating semantics like that falls short very quickly when we take a look at what we do as a society. I think HC is important, just like national defense, and clean water, and good food, stuff like that.
