I'm kidding you Pepper.
I think you're partly right. GMO wheat, tons of corn products, and also, a lot of "American" processed foods. And soda pop (my weakness) and/or Beer without the workouts.

But it's 50% genetics too. And old age. And expensive foods...even veggies.

soda usage has been trending downwards for years. it used to be one of my weaknesses. I may drink 1 coke every 3 or 4 months now, if that.

Have you seen the "Fat, Sick, and nearly dead" documentaries? A bit controverserial, but not all that out of line.

OTOH, some people are predisposed. Also some don't have good health to begin with and that makes it harder for them to get in shape. But still, I think we have to be more aware of what we eat.

You guys know I'm a foodie...and I don't always eat well either. My mom does better...she's type II diabetic in her old age though...so she keeps it diet controls and eats balanced diet while being very aware of carbs and fats. She's doing good.

GF is on a diet now. Doctor said "well, now that you quit smoking for a year, time to focus on the diet." ;) I'm rooting for her, but I can't be there to cook her good stuff and she's always very busy with work and errands. Makes it extra hard. She does OK too though. Just needs to focus on it a bit.

Yeah, I drink the soda mostly for the caffeine. I even have "emergency backup caffeine pills" around and add it to water or flavored water if I run out. I hate coffee. And I get caffeine withdrawal (headache) if I go off it. It's bad. Still, I probably get less caffeine that way than some coffee drinkers.

It also helps with asthma, which I suspect is an minor issue.

I've never been able to adjust to diet soda.

agreed, eating well takes effort. and with a busy schedule it makes it even harder. I concentrate on watching what I eat/drink during the week and let loose a little on the wknds. However, these next 3 months will concentrate on eating well 7 days a week.

I have one big cup of coffee in the morning and that's it... generally. I would rather not have soda if it's diet. Yuck!
