Now, I'm scared... Has this type of think ever happened with a 30w?

No need to be scared. Batteries need to be handled with care--they store energy and this energy sometimes finds its way out. It can happen with you cell phone battery as well... Even Boeing had problems with batteries. ;)

Don't leave your battery on a charger unattended, don't charge overnight, don't drop it (if possible :)), keep the connections clean (wipe the threads with an alcohol pad or a soft tootbrush dipped in Isopropyl alcohol), don't throw it carelessly into your purse, don't leave it in your car in 100+ degree weather.

You'll be fine!

I think it is. Why take a risk if you don't have to? My iStick recharges very fast--especially since I don't let it discharge completely--I like to top it off before I get a low battery warning. Having another battery is a must, anyway--any ecig battery can die on you without any reason whatsoever.

But do your research before you buy another iStick--there are many good box mods. Heatvape Defender and Innokin Cool Fire 4 are better quality batteries than the iStick--IMHO.

And try the Eleaf GS Air tank, as Lost suggested--inexpensive and a brilliant performer:

Have fun. But do your research first...

And on that note--I bid y'all farewell. Time to get back to RW.
