maybe this year it'll be different, bear :?:

Apparently. The online version of the local fish wrapper has nothing, nada. Just a
link to a blog post. I'll need to flip through the hardcopy version to double-check.

Sunday Greetings to all!!!

@CES is on her way to the annual island retreat... and has yet to be regaled by any of
my "sprinkler saga"s!!!... and have the opportunity to suggest I have an in-ground
system installed. No need this year (so far). Mom Nature has been good in her crying
fits. Just the pots have required some attention. Maybe CES will suggest a drip
irrigation system be strung hither, thither and yon to address the hangers.

Bear...go to the Parade...take nice pics, do a great write up about it and submit it to your local paper:)

The parade was yesterday. Non-state-wedded-"Hus" and I have never attended the festivities.
We are of the same mind in there is much too much of what we consider stereotypical (and in
some cases, over-the-top) behavior and events. It's amazing that some of the "carnival game"
booths have not received media attention. Yes... people are completely free to do what is
fun for them... as Hus and I are free to just stay away.

Ahhh - got ya

I like the crazy dressings at events. They really liven things up.
Mardi Gras, Gasparilla, Renaissance Festivals, ComicCons, Trek Conventions...etc...

And can I get DH out to events like this...???

NOPE !

Heya Classy :)

Bear, glad you've been getting enough rain :) Extra glad that the fund raiser for your cat lady probably went well- despite the heat :)
this year I'm relying on the peeps who are taking care of the beasties to water anything that doesn't get rained on.

Shutting down. see ya'll ...maybe this evening, maybe in three weeks ;) .

Sad news re: elderly lady next door. She came home from (yet ANOTHER) two-month stint
of hospital and rehab on Friday. I stopped in to visit yesterday and she told me that her stay
at home will be short because she has to go into a nursing home. She requires 24/7 attention
now, and insurance will only help cover x-number of days per year... which she has used up.
She says it's less expensive to go to a home rather than pay for around-the-clock in-home care.
(I've always read the opposite... ???) Maybe she has good long-term care insurance... dunno.

She came right out and asked if I/we would take one of her cats. ::sigh:: It's the one she
kept which was born under our deck in 2008. We are not *REALLY REALLY* in the market to
bring in another cat. I have to reserve spot for my Dad's cat (which WILL happen at some
point)... and possibly Oreo... and who knows about Frisk-E. I did not say yes or no... and
will touch base with the area's Crazy Cat Lady (who has been minding her cats whenever she
has been away).

But yeah... it's sad when somebody has to leave their own home and also walk away from their
pets.

    not gonna "like" that post

But how sweet she thought of you...must be a reason there...

I also found out that the ONE cat she had - which I WOULD have taken - was euthanized last
week. 20 years old, deaf, blind in one eye and needed daily meds. It would have been short-
term... and he was very needy for care.

I find it hard to grasp that NO ONE in her HUGE family will step up and take any one of her
    (now-remaining two) cats. Nobody.

ETA: She does have a third, but that one has remained feral and has lived outdoors (well, in her
garage during the Winter) since 2008. It's the Mom to the one the woman wants me to take.
She assumes the cat will just remain a "neighbourhood cat" and seek out food and water on her
own (which the cat knows is here).
