We now bring you the "Tin foil hat club news break".

Today's news...the power company probably owns stock in generator manufacturing companies. Why? Because their CYA estimates for power restoration cause people to go nuts and run out and buy generators so they don't lose their refrigerator and freezer(s) contents. Also to have well water working. How do we here at the TFHC know this? Well....

When I was out starting the generator, the guy next door came over and "chatted". This is an exceedingly rare event and I was glad he took a moment. Now, he asked the usual current-disaster type of chit-chat question: "Did you hear???!!?!?!!!! ....dramatic pause....They're estimating tomorrow night around 11:30 for repairs!". I said (having already called and reported it) "I heard Wednesday night!". "Oh yeah", he says, "I forgot what day it is." So we chat a bit, I offer to let him use my generator for a while if he can't find another solution so he can run his fridge. He says "Thanks! Let you know!".

Fast forward to a bit before 8:00. I'm filling up the gas tank in the generator. I see an SUV pull into their house. I wait, because I'm all cool like that (I kinda learned all this from Bear, 'cuz you know...). I walk over and say the usual return-chit-chat 'Hey! You found one huh?'. It's the wife and some other guy, not the hus that talked to me the 1st time....brother?...new hubs...someone else, IDK. So they are all unpacking and I go back in.

The phone rings a bit later. 8:15 ish. It's the OTHER neighbor. Calling to tell me that the power is back on. :) :D

I go out to unplug the generator and turn it off. She's (1st neighbor) is laughing pointing at their outside light (that is on). I nod and smile and laugh friendly like "Isn't that the way it always goes" gesture over the din of the generator. I pack it all up. I see them wheel their new prize, unused, into their garage.

So it took the power company less than 12 hours. Yay power company. Boo! estimators.

That's how I know the power company has stock in generator companies. ;) :D :p

Goodnight snails.
