Hmmm... it seems to me you have to give me that half-penny BACK, plus give *ME* a
penny. The key word was "start". And they DID start "tomorrow". Nothing about
completion.

Fork over. I'm retired on a fixed income.
:facepalm:
First off, you already agreed that either way, I'm at least 1/2 correct either way. I'll quote that post where you said so if I must. Don't let this get ugly, Bear.

Secondly, this:
Elizabeth_II_HalfPenny_reverse.png

is only 1/2 the bet.

Thirdly, this:
p8130219-jpg.480533

Doesn't even qualify as "starting to lay asphalt ". All they did was "drop off" some materials so they could start TODAY (that's Wednesday, today, not Friday FIVE DAYS AGO) to do your driveway.

They STALLED YOU, Bear. And you're falling for it. All over a 1/2 penny. How sad.

we're gonna have one riled-up bear! :laugh:

i better go and attend to supper :lol:
What? They didn't do anything!
OK....Bear....Provide pic prior to that pic so we can see what they "did" to lay asphalt. No point in trying though, as there's no new (real) asphalt in that pic. Just a bed of base. Probably pre-existing.

A sea change, perhaps? :toast:

Check this out:

Public Health England says “E-cigarettes are 95% less harmful to your health than normal cigarettes,” but provides no evidence e-cigs pose 5% of cigarette risks. Says “When supported by a smoking cessation service, they help most smokers to quit tobacco altogether,” but provides no evidence cessation services assist smokers switch to vaping.

Don't let this get ugly, Bear.

:: sigh ::
:: checking keyboard mapping... hmmm... "English" and not "Russian" ::

My original "start a pool" post, made on Wednesday, 12aug15 said:

"... will they - or will they NOT - be here tomorrow or Friday to start the driveway work? ..."

Tomorrow = 13aug15
Friday = 14aug15

@AttyPops replied "not".

They did show up on 13aug15... dropped off pipe, then workers came to dig up the existing
asphalt, remove old pipe, dig trench for new one, and then leveled off the gravel base. That
was the start. You posted the pic of where it ended.

Where I "agreed", well that was just me being a :wub:sweetheart:wub:, as I always am.

So, I'LL be the bigger man and say you can keep the half-penny, as a gift of goodwill. After
all, some of your taxes are paying for my ACA subsidy. :D :p But in the future, do not say I
never gave you anything.

atty, i believe there was asphalt there that did not drain properly away from the house ...................

The under-asphalt pipe - downspout stock - rotted over the years, so rainwater
ended up seeping under driveway causing problems during cold weather (heaving,
cracking) and some water actually ran under the garage floor and caused wetting
of a basement wall. The project was to replace the rotted pipe with PVC. SEEMS
simple enough, huh? And to think... it only took since March to get it done.

Considering they did no DRIVEWAY WORK, only the "other sub-contracted drainage work", I don't see you as doing anything other than pretending to be "sweet" while ripping me off of a 1/2 penny at the same time.

But, since I'm a 1/2 penny ahead, I'll keep it. :D

It was not sub-contracted. ONE contractor did everything.
OK OK. "Other contracted drainage work".
You had TWO things:
1) Fix drainage issue
2) Do driveway.
#2 is dependent upon #1

You said they'd start #2 by Friday. They didn't start it until today. But I'm tired.
