Sorry to see the loss of your plants Tibs, last year almost killed my gardenia bush. Had to cut it almost to the ground & start all over but it's doing well now

I understand how you feel
My entire bush turned brown and died back to the ground.
Different zones for different plants sometimes. Very few that grow everywhere.
The only tree type plant I have is a huge Forsythia. Nothing much bothers that. Of course it's not an early bloomer here either.

My while azaleas lost all their buds in the last hard freeze and won't bloom this year. The purples appear to be just fine. The white iris had a little damage this weekend.
