OK, maybe it's staring me in the face, and probably waving at the same time... but I need to ask...

...the changeover has apparently resurrected old long-deleted PMs/now-conversations. I keep the
inbox free of clutter. I am seeing no way of nuking old PMs/now-conversations. How do we
DELETE unneeded messages?

not easily. you have to "leave the conversation" , a process that glitches a bit right now.

that'll take a little patience, bear - there seems to be a problem 'leaving a conversation' but it's being worked on ;)

tweety found the apparent cause - you can leave old 'conversations' you have started but not the ones somebody else initiated - or vice versa :?:

So it's an "ownership" type thing. They hold the old (OLD) messages kind of hostage-like in YOUR list.
