That info is readily available on town tax rolls IF the owner resides there.

For example... the elderly woman next door. I know she pays NO school taxes,
9% of what I pay for property taxes, her age, her phone number, date of home
purchase and all kinds of other info people may THINK is private. All that is an
open book because she owns the house.

But renters get to hide behind the owner... and they don't maintain the property
(maybe the owner should be held liable for that, but the renter COULD push a
lawn mower around every so often), store junk vehicles in the driveway, make all
kinds of noise, and generally bring down nearby property values and degrade the
quality of life for all within sight/hearing distance. So THEY get all kinds of shields
put up around them.

I just need/want a name. That's all. "Code Enforcement" said I need to file a FOIL
claim for them to give me the info. At a price.

The wife-of-household on the OTHER side of me is going tonight to dispute the latest
assessment increase. Their home went up 25% in "value" (ours increased 10%) so she's
fighting it. She's done it before and has kept the same assessment for the last 3
increases (again: I know this because of the info out there). One of her talking points
*IS* that house across the road. She *did* file a FOIL claim to get info on - and copies
of - all *MY* reports to Code Enforcement. She's ticked.

naturally, you could always call the owner - he/she might be grateful to hear of the latest developments ;)

If you mean the "domestic dispute"... maybe he'll "find out" about it if/when
rent payments become delinquent. I would ASSUME it's now a 1-income
household and will make $ tighter. But the owner does know about all the
code complaints... they get mailed to him. And that's why the woman next
door only knows the name of the owner via copies of the violations. She also
knows who else has made calls because names and addresses appear on the
violation notices. But nothing about who actually LIVES there.

Actually... what goes on INSIDE the house doesn't/shouldn't concern me. (But I'd be
willing to listen to any gossip... I'll own that!) It's what I have to see and listen to on
a daily basis that *is* my business.

Individual rental properties (not talking apartment complexes here), and the people
they attract GENERALLY are detrimental to the immediate area. Absentee owners
are GENERALLY not a good thing. I've been here since '77 and really do not like the
idea of even MORE properties becoming rentals. It's not good. And it's why I have
become a "difficult neighbour".

ahem - i'm sure the owner knows the name of his tenant ;)

so

bear: hi! who are those people living in your house? all kinds of commotion, stuff being moved out, tires screeching ............

Going out on a limb here and guessing I'm NOT one of his favourite people. All I'd
hear is a phone receiver slamming down. (Or just "click" if it's a cell phone.)

If the owner has done nothing to stop the audio/visual show, then I'm assuming he
does not care, either.

Think I should have stayed in bed this morning. Decided to do 1 load of wood before it got any hotter. I have a little arthritis in my left thumb that rarely bothers me. Well that decided to kick into full gear and then I turned wrong and twisted my dang knee to boot. Off to make a potato salad. Without injury I hope.
