Mea culpa.

That why you get implants rather than get a partial or a bridge. Or go without. There.
Fixed that for myself.

(Doesn't explain passing on IV sedation, though.)
I didn't have IV sedation either when I had my wisdom teeth pulled or when I had my root canal and crown.

They are doing NOTHING invasive on me without a needle sticking out of my arm.
Nope, ain't happening. I even demand a hit of nitrous before the IV is put in. I am
a HUGE "kitty cat (synonym)" when it comes to dental work.

Did they charge around $100 for that capacitor? That's what I got socked with in '13 as a
"preventive measure"... their measurements during bi-annual check-up indicated a probable
fail. I felt "taken".

The capacitor was $75, and a half hour of work was $75.

I don't think that you did get taken. I talked with the guy about capacitors and check ups. He said that when they do the checkups, they can sometimes tell that a capacitor has a pretty good chance of failing and they'll recommend changing it. Most of the time they fail without warning.

seems to be the going rate - the boy just paid $150 for that same service - $90.00 plus $60.00 labor

I am NOT a candidate for implants, Tibs. Unless they use toggle bolts through my jaw for
the posts. The bone loss is too severe.

Toggle bolt:

And at about $4,000 PER IMPLANT, it's not happening. Thankfully, it appears to be molars only...
canine-to-canine (plus one on either side, top and bottom) seems safe from the ravages.

I HAVE AC !!! yay!!

it was a capacitor. whew. they called and told me that the repair guy was running two hours late. But it only took him a half hour to fix and the total cost was just over $150.

The house is cooling down and I'm a happy camper.

Mad, I don't blame you for not wanting to cut a hole in you foundation...but won't the weight of a basement full of water collapse the sinkhole anyway? ;)

I think what he means is....if he gets a sump AND IT WORKS...pumping the water out leaves a "gap"...thus enabling the apocalyptic post-pump scenario he's imagining. A la Leaning Tower of Pisa or worse.

Now the basement full of water, is like water sitting on water...with a separating layer of cement for good measure. Kinda like one of those magic 70's jello desserts.

Of course, in and alternate reality, the house is probably sitting on firm soil or rock or something, and he's just a worry wort. But without a survey or knowing the area, who knows?

No way. I'm looking at six... maybe SEVEN... more. Plus, they want to eliminate or
at least reduce my "torus mandibularis" (two) before fitting for partials.

If you think I will be at all lucid during all of that, you are NUTS!!!

Toggle bolts, teeth, and jaws should not be talked about together. just sayin'

Looks like ya pay for the capacitor when you get the service or when it breaks during the stifling heat. It is now DOWN to 86 in my house.

I liked your explanation too, Atty.

What would they anchor into??? Quicksand? Marsh? Swamp???

@tiburonfirst : Apologies for being "short". I'm still reeling from the prognosis... of what needs to
happen even before the prostheses. I'm hoping the second opinion on Tuesday will not be as drastic.
