Hi everyone. Busy day today. Some good news and bad news to report.
Great weather today, first of all. Only about 87 for a high and very little humidity.
Day started off with a visit to the ENT specialist. The good news is that my hearing and ears are fine. The bad news is that he thinks my vertigo/dizzy spells are from my sleep aids. So either be sleep deprived and not dizzy or sleep okay and deal with vertigo. Hello rock. Meet hard place.
Finally, I talked to my mom today and she sounded really good. The trach has been completely removed, but she is still on oxygen. Her first PT session went really well and she's able to eat regular, solid food now. She just has to be very careful when drinking so as not to aspirate into her lungs.

Yay for good news anyway Lost :)

Maybe you could try some different sleep aids? You may have already been down this road though.

Yup, Dale. Tried 'em all. It's so frustrating.

I've been on Lunesta for probably 8 years or more. Tried all the others and this is the only one that worked for me. I suffer bouts of light-headedness and, sometimes, dizziness, but I am also on Ativan (getting off it this year) and mirtazapine, which can also cause those symptoms. I feel for ya, Lost. Hope you can find something.

Hey! I'm on Ativan too! :D Funny that I've been taking that one for years but it's just now causing me vertigo. I'm not sure I'm buying what he said. I hated Lunesta. Worst taste in my mouth from that one. Yeah, I've been suffering from insomnia for 22 years and it's quite possibly the WORST condition. Sleep is so, so, so, so, SO important to almost every aspect of life. I think I'll take the vertigo.

Hello Snails! Had a minor doggie emergency--nasty aural hematoma, chronic ear infections, allergies, the works... Morning at the vets.

    Hope everyone is OK!

I've been on it too long, too. But you can develop side effects even if you've been on a drug for years. As far as the Lunesta, I had that awful taste for awhile, but it actually went away. I just want to get off these drugs. I doubt if I'll be able to get off the mirtazapine. Tried 3 times and got so sick I had to go back on. Hate Big Pharma!!!

Thank you, ladies. They drained 22 cc of fluid from her ear and zapped it with laser. Six follow-up appointments for more laser treatments. Hopefully she won't need full blown surgery with general anesthesia. She's twelve and a half...
