I hope that these settings give him relief for a bit longer

Have you heard anything about using MRI/imaging/measurement of electrical responses to help with placement and adjustment of the electrodes? There were a studies that started a couple of years ago. The early results (that i heard about in a seminar i attended) were really promising, in that they could directly record the effect of the settings before sending someone home.

surgery at unc was mri-assisted a few years ago (a redo of the original surgery at wake forest baptist) and the electrodes were placed accordingly. we have had some excellent results but, unfortunately, they are gone within a day or two ............
