I'm making do with a mouse that doesn't like a rough surface, and have to get a mouse pad tomorrow.........I abhor mouse pads, but the surface on which the mouse resides has gotten so scratched that the mouse doesn't glide anymore........arrrrgh

Sounds like a good idea....I will be looking for one of those tomorrow at Best buy.....have to pick something else up there!
Maybe I'll do a 'google' and see what I may be spending!
