One more thing, then I must do some chores.

I caved in to my curiosity and looked at the note (*) which is taped to Frisk-E's "owner's"
front door. And... I called it! It's a note from the house 3-away saying they have the
cat and asking if he wants her back.

(*) - it's NOT in a FEDERAL mailbox, so do not "go there".

So, I marched over to Frisk-E's current home and ended up speaking with the husband
(the wife was not home and she's the one who left the note). Cliffs' Notes Version:
The cat should NOT be given back (stating reasons, observations) and thanking them
for taking her in. :) I also suggested taking that note away to avoid the owner ever
seeing it... should he come back (it's been 8 days now). The note is still on the window.

I'm actually not sure what you mean.

Are you saying we witnessed mankind getting better? Worse? Or we're just more aware and it's a no-change?

It's an apparent degradation of mankind-IN-GENERAL. Maybe "just more aware and it's a no-change",
but that would be a guess, right? Or, maybe I'm just more cynical, suspicious and judgmental due to
age and experience. I just don't recall so much CRAP when I was younger... or at least hearing my
parents lament the world going to hell as much as people these days lament it.

and who cares? ;) federal mail box or not i'd do exactly as you did - get to the bottom of it ;)

Somebody DID care when I mentioned a while ago that I wanted to peek in the mailbox to
find out his name. That's all... just a name... did not care if the return address was KKK
or ISIS.

(Vet just called and T'mato's bloodwork is stellar! :) )

i remember having to be wary of strangers as a kid, but was also allowed to roam a bit more easily as a kid than is the case for kids now. However, in my second job, i work with grownups that got harmed as kids by adults who were :censored:

People without empathy can do some amazingly bad stuff, and it seems that there's no shortage of people who can shut down empathy whenever they choose. It's not new. it might be worse, bu that might also be a function of technology and increased visibility.

Sometimes there is redemption and change. Other times the best outcome may be getting the person to act as if there is change, because no matter the intent, the behavior is what we can see and measure.

Let's just say some better, some worse.
I don't think I want to go any further than that into this topic. I've already been beat up once today about OUTSIDE! level stuff. You could start a thread there if you wish. There's a lot of philosophy in this topic.
