need some good thoughts going toward nc :( petey, the dachshund, started dragging his hindlegs yesterday evening and dil took him to work with her this morning. the vets at her clinic sent her straight to nc state vet college for a possible emergency surgery
petey on left, badger with possible torn ligament top right. bottom right is gramps which they just took in as a sanctuary foster. he was dropped at the pound by his previous owner at age 13 ................

Oh, Tibs, I'm so sorry. I sure hope they can help Petey. Could be herniated disc. How old is he. And I hope she is reconsidering surgery for Badger, off course, that's probably on the back burner for now. Please keep us posted. And what a sweet, sweet baby is gramps. Good for them taking him in.

Good thoughts for Petey. Our cat Ethel had a similar thing... hind legs suddenly stopped
working. Vet threw out a raft of possibilities... but where to start? I don't recall what
was tried (back in '06), but nothing worked for her. She was a trooper.. just had to
drag herself wherever she wanted to go. We watched that for 2 weeks before making
"the decision". It was a difficult choice because everything else was a-OK.

Her final day, 07jul06... on the deck. :(
