I am >this< close to forwarding that to a couple of "friends". THAT"S how they
spend their restaurant time AND socializing time afterward. Buried in their
phones. But... they know full well ALREADY how I feel about it. They just do
not see it as "them".

I feel so grateful that I'm the age I am cause when these devices weren't available for our kids, our elders received the attention and respect they deserved.
Yes, AND friends, who by the way, met for lunch person to person, talked on the phone and heard responses, laughed out loud, etc.
While I do enjoy the new technology, I use it in addition to, but not as a substitute.
I am a very senior gal. My son & daughters do text me, but not to the exclusion of personal contact.......they respect my feelings, and for that, I feel grateful.

Yes... (so do I and it stays in the car*). You can text with it, you know.
* - except when landline service goes out (twice this past Summer)... then I use it
to make calls. ie: emergency only.
