Afternoon, y'all
My university decided to amend the nicotine use insurance surcharge that goes into effect in January . They apparently had an attack of common
sense and realized that giving people nicotine replacement as one mechanism for discontinuing the nicotine use surcharge made no
sense (yep, if you went to a stop smoking course and switched to NRTs you could have the surcharge discontinued).
So...they changed the surchare to $50/month for tobacco use...so they could give smokers NRTs as a way to quit. BUT they had an even further attack of common
sense and specifically exempted e-cigs from the list of tobacco products!
It's still dumb, and smokeless tobacco use will still have a surcharge, but at least vapers and people that use only nicotine won't have to pay the surcharge.
