Good morning y'all :)

My oldest dog, LT, got his last set of some shots last fall. turns out that with some of the multi-year shots, the last one they give is at 10 years old.

Hope your toe is better tibs.

I drink half-caff coffee in the morning (mix my own caff and decaf ). Any tea during the day is herbal, but i mostly drink water.

    Good morning CES :)

That's interesting about the shots ending at 10 years :?:
Wonder if that means they have built up an immunity or what?

There is a great deal of evidence out there that they actually build up an immunity after one or 2 sets of shots. The vet can do a blood titrating test to see if the dog is immune, in which case, they won't need the yearly or every 3 years. Rabies, thought is mandatory. :) I'm having Maddy's blood checked first to see if she has built up the immunity. I don't want to have her get unnecessary shots.

    That would be pretty cool!
Surprised a Vet would admit that tho' :?: I was kind of worried that it might be that they would do more harm than good.

I think that rabies does continue to be required...distemper is one that becomes unnecessary. I've been lucky, or the beasties have- they typically don't have any reactions to shots.

Hey Bear, here's Adele's newest video. The music starts a minute or so in.

My vet has always been good about understanding and minmizing costs. When i was a grad student he showed me how to do one of the annual tests for worms myself, and supported me giving some shots myself the couple of years that i just couldn't afford to do more than the bare minimum. this is also why he's still my vet after 13 years.

Big business here too. I got lucky :) (and over the years he's made his money back from giving me those early breaks. not every one is smart enough to realize that it pays off in continued patronage and referrals)

All right. it's that time. two more weeks and i think I'll get a bit of a break. I'm exhausted. though some of it is fun volunteer work, I haven't had a full day where i haven't hod to go somewhere and do something since early september. I miss downtime.

morning, ces! yup, i have discontinued some shots a while ago already. lucky with the vet here too ;)
titering, which dil does, is not free of charge and our vet looks at circumstances and how likely an exposure would be. unfortunately, the rabies shot stays a requirement to keep daisy legal :(

    Morning snails.

I read there's now evidence that some human vaccines "wear off" after a while. I just followed the schedule with Fido.

The more I read about rooibos tea, the more interesting it is. IDK how that would interact with blood-pressure meds though. But I never know what to make of the hype on herbal stuff. This tea is studied though, so it's more than just hype.

    Good morning Atty :)

I really don't think it will hurt you :?:
One word of warning tho', if you try it and you use sweetener you might want to cut back a bit ... it's naturally sweeter than black tea ;)
