I must say, fine by me getting woken up @ 4:30am by a kitteh who, at some point during the night, decided it was better to sleep spooned with her h00man than at the foot of the bed. Sacrificing sleep for petting, purring, the first stages leading up to head bonks, and kitteh body language saying, "Hey, why did you stop?" was definitely worth it today!
...and hooray for coffee!

Virginia Schools Shut Over Arabic Assignment
They want to practice calligraphy? And learn geography? And they couldn't find a better assignment?
This is what we did in our schools here when my kids were little. Kids learned about many different countries and languages and everybody had fun.

Did they also get an assignment to write Pater Noster in Latin, the Four Noble Truths in Sanskrit (or Chinese), the Shema or the Ten Commandments in Hebrew, and so on? If they did, I have no problem with that. If they didn't, I understand that parents may be upset.
