In addition, he would first need to have an audit/assessment of any needs. When they
see he maintains his apartment (pretty well independently), his hygiene, prepares his
own meals, and his health
in general (
*) is OK... I'm not sure he would qualify. Those
abilities would also keep him from being admitted to any "skilled nursing facility".

I have started to investigate local "assisted living" facilities that DO accept Medicaid
residents. But that also opens up a few other tasks (if I found some place that is
acceptable to me)... GETTING him on Medicaid (he'd need to go
through a
very brief
spend-down period)... and most difficult: getting HIS
buy-in on the whole thing. He
does NOT see himself in any kind of dire need of that kind of change. I, on the other
hand, am viewing it in real-time... and it's NOT good. But he's not in any kind of
mindset to give up what he has.
