calling that gracie! having spent time in that corner of the world maybe she knows what kind of tree this is? :?: not holding out much hope for obg and his r & r experience :D

Tibs, that picture almost looks to be a 'Jerusalem Thorn Tree', one of which I have in my front garden, but not entirely sure, leaves are more ovate but the flowers are very similar.......it could also be one of the Oriental magnolias.

P.S.
Those white things in the steamer are steamed "buns"...the center one and the top 2. Traditionally, I think they're made with rice flour and steamed. These days you see a lot of cake flour recipes. Various fillings. Commonly used for dim sum, too. Can also be fried when formed differently.

i shall enquire from dil once they're back home!

You may want to ask dil to inquire to a manager at the hotel in which she is staying.....they go out of their way to please clientele.
