Oooooooooooh-K... need to take a different approach.
REAL mac and cheese has:
1) pre-cooked Mac
2) shredded Cheese (not pre-shredded in a bag with saw-dust, but when you grate real cheese, Velveeta doesn't count as cheese here IMO)
3) a sauce...basically a bechamel sauce (flour+butter = roux, milk, salt)
+ sometimes add-ins like powdered mustard or garlic powder or onion or onion powder
+ bread crumb topping (bread crumbs and a fat...oil or butter)
all of which is mixed up, topped with crumb topping at some point and baked. The cheese sauce is usually made separately and then mixed with the mac in a baking dish. Let the sauce cool a bit before adding cheese to avoid the cheese breaking and being grainy.
Apparently Dale's mom used evaporated milk for the regular milk (higher fat and milk protean content)
