After residents of the UK voted today to leave the European Union, the movement for an independent Texas may be gaining serious momentum, with thousands online calling for a “Texit.”

I replied to this in the OUTSIDE! but basically, it's apples and oranges...Although these days they might actually LET THEM secede .

The USA is not the EU. State membership is permanent. It's like joining a gang...it's for life. There's only one way out.

The city brings in so much outside tourist money and business...and influence...you'd be nuts to nix them. Although if they keep doing nanny state stuff like restricting size of soda and being anti-e-cig....Sure, nix them. I think that was all more of a ?Bloomberg? thing than a City thing though.
