Gross, man!!!

Yesterday, the "change odor filter" (ie: carbon filer) light illuminated
on that air cleaner I bought back in February. I believe it happens only
because 6 months have passed and NOT because the unit sensed it
NEEDED replacement. (The HEPA light will come on after 12 months.)

Anyway, the cleaner has a VERY fine mesh pre-filter... then the carbon
filter... then the HEPA filter. I took the cover off and found that the
mesh pre-filter was just LOADED with cat hair, kitty litter dust... and
a POOL of wet stuff at the bottom and just DRIPPING from the mesh.

At first, I thought it was from the analogs... tar and nic and junk. But
when I took it to the sink to spray it off with hot water, I smelled something
kind of sweet.

So let me tell you this... our vapor does, indeed, "collect". It collects so
much that it POOLS when given the right situation. And it only reinforces
my thoughts that vaping is NO MORE CLEANER (to the surrounding environment)
than regular smoking. I'll say that at least regular smoke simply adheres to
stuff. But vapor will collect and run down. Explains the car windows, too.

How do our LUNGS deal with that pooling, I wonder?... and they are in much
closer proximity than that air cleaner.

Anyway... it was pretty gross. Check your tabletops and walls... run a finger
across them and take a look.

Sorry Bear, sometimes you gotta take the better than with the bad.

My surgeon never mentioned any "pooling" Sweetie, and there's Mad's link, too. Still, when I vape now, it's just in the mouth. No inhaling for me!!!!:)

My main "a-ha" and "gross, man" takeaway is that the vapor just does
not disappear within our homes or other enclosed areas. It does collect,
and if there's enough, it gathers to the point of dripping. That air cleaner...
car window haze... and it also explains why I have to clean eyewear daily.

I will say it's easier to get rid of than the crap from analogs.

I wonder what "cloud chaser" cars and homes are like?

(This is probably due to the neat/clean-freak that I am.)

    Happy Birthday Dale!!

    Hey y'all :)

Bear, I'm not surprised there's residue, especially for cloud chasers. I'm pretty much over any sort of visible vapor, have been for a long time. But still, i think that smoke is worse than PG/VG...

addition still not done. grrrr. contractor has overextended himself, so lack of people to do the work is another bottleneck (and no we're not a priority here, and yes, he knows that the building loan is due in early november so the work has to be done by the end of october)

other than that all is well :)

    Humidity and temp Bear.

The air cleaner's grid(s) is probably cooler that ambient due to evaporative cooling/air-flow and thus gets condensation...also size of vape drops and mesh would matter. Vape is a condensate so I'm not surprised to find it on surfaces when floating around (where else would it go?) but rather, that it USUALLY dries up even though it is hydrophilic. Maybe that's it, that it's picking up MORE moisture due to your ambient humidity and the fact that you're running all that air through it, so it's like a mini de-humidifier as well as a filter.

Do you run the A/C and is it humid in your house? Do you think the liquid has water or is do you think it's mostly PG/VG?

My desktop is dry, and I vape at the computer a lot.

    P.S.
It IS designed to collect stuff from the air, so it sounds like it works. ;) :)
    Vape IS a liquid. ;) :)
