Brrr Fran! As long as you have propane!!
I used to like camping that time of year, when it gets a bit cool (but not too cold).
Usually, it's after school has started for the kiddies, and the weekdays are low-camper-turnout. GF and I used to sometimes go late in the season (schedule and such) so we'd camp even in September! I remember freezing our butts off until we got the furnace in her trailer set. And that was a pop-out trailer with fold down sides for the beds, and I'd take the outside cooler side so the canvas wasn't all that insulating. Blankets!
But once you get up and moving, and get a fire going, and then the temps start rising, it's GREAT! Cool not-too-hot days for nice walks. You'll find a few leaves starting to turn this time of year, if you hunt for them. The animals will be continuing their prep for Winter. The birds are starting to flock. And still warm enough not to be bundled up too much at noon and of course no trudging
through snow. Warm fire, contrasted with cooler air.
How crowded is it? IDK what the deal with school is by you, start-of-school varies a lot around here...some places start early but go Tue - Thurs only so weekends are free for travel season (big industry here). I'm assuming you are there for a week-ish. So I'll bet things will be nice and quiet come Monday night. And you'll endure the cool weather in your warm trailer.
Have some pancakes, hot-dogs and s'mores for me and the GF. I'll be thinking of you, envious even if it's cool out. Hope Hubby's hips are OK enough for him to enjoy stuff. Maybe if he's having problems, rent something with wheels like bikes or even better, mopeds, if it fits into the budget and plans. Take some trails!
