Yeah, if they do it properly.Cement in THIS climate?!?! Do you think that would be wise?
GF had a cement driveway. It did crack after like 30 years, and she had it replaced. But basically if they do the foundation (underlayment? Whatever?) correctly, it's fine. Just don't drive too many heavy dump trucks over it.
Just think of all the pools, proches and patios out there that have cement. Sidewalks, etc. If they use a good mix, and prep the base so water doesn't build up under it, it's all good.
I did the base for a patio, with packed earth and then some fine gravel for drainage/expansion. Is fine. 16 years so far and it only cracked along the crack-line/joint where it was supposed to. No heaving.
Basically they have to know what they're doing. We know how to do it these days.
