unreal! who would have thought! :?:

Are you an Equifax breach victim? You could give up right to sue to find out

and i usually check out the fine print but it never dawned on me i'd be giving up rights just by checking  let's hope schneiderman gets his way ;)

Eric Schneiderman @AGSchneiderman

This language is unacceptable and unenforceable. My staff has already contacted @Equifax to demand that they remove it. https://twitter.com/zackwhittaker/status/906178254331142144 …

If they DO remove it, is the take-back retroactive? Or is it too-bad-so-sad
for those that already HAVE checked?

read the article, bear! ;) apparently, you got 30 days to change your mind if you do it in writing!
In "writing"??? Like with paper, pen, envelope and (gulp) a STAMP???

I write in cursive. Will they be able to understand it?

(Cursive is being dropped from the curricula of many schools.)

I think you'll find that requiring arbitration just to find out if you're impacted (so you could have a class action) is not at all legal. The comments section of that article is more interesting than the article itself. Needless to say, it probably won't hold up and class-action suits will go forward. That might have been just a general catch-all terms-of-use.

Anyway, I'd relax about the arbitration thing, particularly since some state AG's are on it.

Well, I went to their website and both mine and DH's information is possibly compromised. We got a date to enroll in their 1-year credit monitoring.

I agree with Schneiderman (and Atty)--it's just CYA legal BS--totally unenforceable if/when there is a class lawsuit.

I just visited Hurricane Irma thread and learned that @AG51 and @oldbikeguy are also in Florida! Stay safe, guys!

In the meantime, Mexico was just hit by a 8.1 magnitude earthquake... Gov. Abbot is pledging help... Off to my garage I go.

Gotta run. Take care, Snails. This is a dangerous world we live in.

Nobody's even mentioning North Korea anymore.
