One of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I remind myself it's compassionate...when Fido had to be put down. It's so hard. The vet should help you decide.

But she's going blind, deaf, has chronic skin and ear infections, hip dysplasia, and now some neurological problems are making her lose control of her hind quarters...
You'll know. She'll tell you with her eyes, Tibs. They speak volumes.....
(((HUGS))))One of the most painful things we have to do. Like I told Tibs, they let us know. Watch their eyes. They will tell you they've had enough, unless they go without you having to make that decision. It's a hard decision, but, every time I've had to make it, I knew it was the right thing to do for them. And each of them were able to tell me with their eyes, except Puggers ( my avatar), whose seizures literally fried her precious brain. My love and good thoughts go with both you and @tiburonfirst ....(((HUGS)))

I was in worse shape when Puggers left me than when I was diagnosed with the lung cancer!!!!!!!!! And even the surgery!

Hershey just pooped under DH's desk--in her sleep. 
Gotta go and deal with that. Thank God for hardwood floors.

I used a sling for Fido for quite a while.Not really. They all say it's your decision. Unless, of course, the dog is suffering. It got to be so bad, though, that I couldn't haul him around anymore (100 pound dog) several times a day and still make sure he was living a good life. But I did do that for quite a while. I didn't give up easily. Winter here was the hardest and most dangerous for that due to slipping dangers of the active front paws while being carted around.
If Hershey can still get up and move around, and isn't in any pain, and is generally happy and (probably) sleeps a lot, maybe not too bad. Not to prolong it, but I think "you'll know". The infections worry me a lot, and could cause pain. The blindness isn't necessarily "fatal" for him/her either, IMO.
Hershey will tell you if he/she's depressed and not living a good life anymore. That's my

Yup. It is neurological--diagnosed. Doesn't happen all the time, but it happens.
Diapers are an option, I know. Not there yet.
