Jan/Feb coldest months. It's not all that uncommon for FL to get below freezing, is it? I remember a lot of stories about the orange crop and them burning smudge pots or whatever.

You DO own a winter coat, right? ;) :p

Good luck Gracie. We're rooting for ya! Stay off the damn roads if you get snow....people just don't know how to drive in it. Plus you end up with ICE and no salt on the roads. Go to the store NOW. ;)
Yep, we get freezes....it's when they are sustained for more than 2 days that the problems begin.

You gave me a belly giggle...('go to the store NOW!)......but, yes, I did not get rid of my winter garb.....or gloves......or hats and I use them!! ;) Remember, our blood is a lot thinner than you guys up North and we feel the cold a lot more.

I certainly don't miss the driving up North.....We learned early how to drive in that stuff, but not sure I could do it now......

Cold...yes...brrr...:D
Brrr is right!

So, the latest saga....car battery is dead. Now, they don't normally freeze UNLESS they drain their voltage. But my car might have a bit of an iffy electrical system, or I left a light on, or whatever. So...yep...dead.

I've pulled the battery and brought it into the house to warm up. (NEVER charge a frozen battery...and IDK how to tell if it could be partly frozen...it sloshes). So anyway...yeah....

Doing the "big wait" now...
We'll see if it holds charge. May have to have the GF take me to have it tested, but I'll bet they just call almost all batteries "bad". So...The good news is it is fairly new and should be covered under a warranty % if I need a new one.

Grrrrr. Cold weather.

I should have put a trouble-light under the car in this weather. My brother used to do that, I suppose it helps ward off the cold if you keep the hood down.

Chalk one up for my late bro.

They make battery warmers too that you wrap around it and plug them in. I may pick one up...-10 for a low Friday night.

I tried mentioning a couple of measures to my sister, but I think she decided it's too much trouble. I personally think a dead battery that could've been prevented is too much trouble, but it's her battery/time/effort, so yeah....

I'll post a usual multi-part catch-up tomorrow.
So, anyway...

...pretty boring...

..........

8 of 16 people for hubs' birthday dinner did not show due to impending storm.

.........

Storm FYI... took 20 minutes to drive there, 90 minutes to get back home.

..........

I have never been to that restaurant and plan to never return. Will create
a "Yelp" account to report...

..........

From the time we arrived until well into the dinner, we kept getting prodded
to "move it along" due to incoming parties. The place has been in business for
DECADES and they do not know how to accept reservations around a large party?
Hell, we gave them 2 tables BACK due to no-shows. And I'm sure a lot of people
(later) did not show due to the weather.

..........

My penne side-dish was cooked beyond recognition. It STUCK to my teeth.
That's OK for "al dente", but not for regular fare. I do believe it was re-boiled
leftovers from the night before.

..........

4th consecutive at-home NYEve. Grazed unti 6pm... took nap until 8pm...
grazed more... another nap until 11pm. yes, we personify excitement and
doing it up right!!!

Her sister hit for over $3600.

W2-G time.

...and the passenger wiper turned into a block of ice that did NOTHING
to provide a view for hubs all the way home. I was not about to stop so
he could fix it. As long as MY side was OK, I was just forging ahead. The
snow was coming down HEAVY. HEAVY.

I did a good job of NOT going into full panic mode. I did see him stepping
on the "invisible brake pedal" a few times. (LOL) If I made it through that
nightmare, then my confidence has been built up... a little. I still hate it.

And the two main stations can't agree on the low forecast for Thurs/Fri....

Guess I'll play it by ?ear?. Probably just bring the battery inside, IDK. Started the lawn tractor and it was fine (but had been used Sunday). Maybe car has a problem...wasn't used for 4 days. Maybe I left a light on. IDK. Grrrrr.
